ZURICH - Sure was a busy weekend at
the Zurich complex (Aug. 17 - 19) with all
the horses and riders coming from vari-
ous places to take part in the Oke
Woodsmith Team Penning Challenge.
There were many different activities tak-
ing place.
The supper Saturday night was sold out
and there was a good crowd for the
dance. The breakfast Sunday morning
was also a big success.
Fair planned again for 2008
The Agricultural Society was happy to
have such a good turn out for their volun-
teer appreciation pot - luck supper on
Aug. 16. The dinner was held at the
Hay Township Hall with everyone
enjoying a delicious meal and some
piano music.
A short meeting was held after-
wards for the directors and it was
decided that another Fair will be
held in July 2008 with the theme
being "Reach For the Stars."
The annual district #8 meeting and
dinner is on Tues., Oct. 23 in St.
Mary's and will cost $20 person.
A birthday party get-together was
held for eight year old Olivea
McCarter on Aug. 16 at the home of
her parents, Dan and Vicki with rela-
tives and friends attending.
On Aug. 18 Ursula Regier held a
family reunion for all of her family,
grandchildren and great grandchil-
dren at her home in Highland One.
Welcome to town recently Kevin
and Trinity Sweeney and their two
boys. Having moved from White
Horse they are now living across
from C.G. Farm Supply.
Sherman and Jenny Roth recently
spent a week in Victoria, B.C. visiting
with his son Mike. They enjoyed
going to Buchart Gardens and listen-
ing to the Victoria Symphony
Orchestra on a barge in the harbour
followed by fireworks.
May we offer our sincere sympathy
to the family and relatives of the late
Sandra Ducharme who died on Aug.
15 (especially to her husband Tom).
Neil and Gladys Gingerich have
moved into the apt. at the rest home
over the weekend from R.R.#3
Zurich.
Congratulations to Leo and Cecile
Meidinger who recently celebrated
their 57th Anniversary. The couple
live in the apartments at the rest
home.
An open house will be held on Sun.,
Aug. 26 at the Zurich Complex in
honour of Denny and Rose Overholt
on the occasion of their 50th
Wedding Anniversary from 2 - 4 p.m.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
Congratulations to Terry Zehr and
Maria Robenson who were married
on Aug. 16 at Ken Gascho's park
near Zurich. The couple went to
Niagara Falls for their honeymoon.
A baby shower was held for Kelly
Lansbergen and little Delaney on
Sat., Aug. 18 near Listowel at the
home of her cousin.
John and Mary Earle and family
returned home from a month - long
vacation; travelling to P.E.I.,
Newfoundland and visiting relatives.
Ten residents from the rest home
along with Stacey and bus driver
Glen Thiel enjoyed a nice outdoor
picnic lunch last Friday afternoon.
The picnic was held at the home of
Jenny Roth in Zurich with the help of
Kathlene and Carmel. Andy Rau
even played some music on his gui-
tar.
A lovely family get-together
(reunion) was held at the summer
home of John and George Harvey
near the lake north of St. Joseph
(they Michigan).

The families of Marie and Gelinas
attended from various places and
everyone enjoyed supper, visiting
and looking at old pictures.
A speedy recovery goes out to Marge
Schilbe who recently was in a car acci-
dent and has a broken arm.
Zurich Bean Fest
Don't forget to come out to the Bean
Festival this weekend! The car show
starts on Friday night with a cruise at 7
p.m. beginning at the park. There will be
fireworks starting at dark.
There is lots going on all day Saturday
starting with breakfast at the complex
from 7 a.m. - 10 a.m.
The Zurich Library is having a free
drop-in craft program from 10 a.m. - 2
p.m.(during the Bean Festival) for chil-
dren. For more information call 236-

This is the last week for the children at
playground for the summer and I am
sure they all had fun doing various crafts,
playing games and going on trips. On
Thurs., Aug. 23 they will be going to the
Hensall playground carnival.
Ladies Bowling
The Monday night ladies bowling
league will soon be starting again on
Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
Anyone wanting to come out for a fun
time and exercise call Barb at 236-4923
at the Town And Country Lanes in
Zurich. New girls in town are especially
welcome!
Heart to Heart
At Zurich Mennonite Church the fall
session of Heart to Heart begins Tues.,
Sept. 11. This is a multi -denominational
women's ministry for women of all ages
and from all walks of life. There are
seven different faith studies to choose
from such as Captivating, Dramatic
Encounters With God, All You Need to
Know About Raising Girls and more.
There are also electives to choose from
that include making rustic bears, ragged
quilts, Christmas cardholder, canning
and others. The program runs every
Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. - 12
noon from Sept. 11 to Nov. 6. Free
babysitting is provided. For more infor-
