Conducted by the Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA), the championship is contest- ed over four rounds of stroke play (72 holes) and features 110 of the nation's top female junior golfers. This year also marks the inaugural crowning of a juvenile champion. Canada's best junior girl golfers will vie for their spot in the record books, including all 10 provincial junior champi- ons and all seven mem- bers of Canada's national junior team. In addition to individ- ual stroke play, the Inter -Provincial Junior Girls' Team Championship will be conducted at Sunningdale Golf and Country Club. Four -member provin- cial teams will compete in conjunction with the first two rounds of stroke play with the top three of four scores from each round counting towards the overall team total. Last season, Quebec captured their first title since 1990. Sunningdale Golf and Country Club has proven to be a championship worthy golf facility hav- ing previously hosted the Canadian Junior Girls' title in 1980, Canadian Women's Amateur Championship in 1990, the Canadian Junior Boys' Championship in 1974 and the Canadian Men's Amateur Championship in 1962 and 1984. "Sunningdale Golf and Country Club is a great test of golf," added Kuypers. "Having such a gra- cious and welcoming host facility helps ensure this will be a great week of golf for our sponsors, spectators, parents and volunteers." In addition to compet- ing for the Brokenshire Trophy, given annually since 1955 to Canada's junior girls' champion, competitors will vie for the Royale Champions Trophy. This commemorative trophy honours each of the three women's Canadian amateur champions (junior, ama- teur and senior) crowned each season by the RCGA.
