Crediton 7 versus Byron Juniors 6 Crediton's bats seemed to come alive in the first inning scoring three runs but remained dormant for the next five, until the bot- tom of the seventh inning when the local squad pounded in four runs to take the win. In the seventh inning, Kerri Fulton, Angie Gould, Marianne Scott, Rachel Michielsen and Carie Pertschy all reached first base successfully with Carrie Dixon hitting a single to bring in the winning run. Angie Gould led her team at the plate with a triple and two singles. Gould's fourth at bat was a long fly ball to centre field which was only caught with smart fielding by the opponents. Amber Preszcator went three for four at the plate while Marianne Scott pounded out a triple in the first inning and a single in the seventh. Carie Pertschy went two for four at the plate with two singles while Kathy Glen hit a long double in the sixth. Single hits came from the bats of Cathy Conlin, Kerri Fulton and Carrie Dixon. Rachel Michielsen was Gould amazing, play- ing the 'hot cor- ner' with several key outs Nikki Cyr played a very skilled second base. Carrie Dixon was Crediton's starting pitcher notching four strikeouts with two strikeouts from reliever Marianne Scott. Crediton 14 versus Dorchester 1 Crediton's offensive and defensive strengths were certainly evident hi the match against Dorchester. A 6-1 ball game in the sixth, found Crediton putting it out of reach for its opponent with eight more runs in the seventh inning. Angie Gould, Cathy Conlin, Carie Pertschy and Kerri Fulton all played strong field with some great Angie catches and throws. Kerri Fulton led her team at the plate with a single, a double and a triple. Angie Gould and Marianne Scott's bats were alive, each hitting a long triple and two singles apiece. Kathy Glen and Rachel Michielsen added three single hits, each recording a per- fectly -placed bunt. Nikki Cyr pounded out a triple in the seventh inning adding a single while Amber Preszcator, Jessica Davies and Cathy Conlin added two single hits apiece. Carie Pertschy and Carrie Dixon assisted the win with a sin- gle hit apiece. Marianne Scott pitched strongly for Crediton going the distance, notching four strikeouts. Come out and enjoy some great fastball in Crediton. The local squad has two more home games Tues., Aug. 14 at 9 p.m. against Oakridge and Sun., Aug. 19 at 8 p.m. against Otterville. Crediton's season wraps up on August 24 to 26 at the Stronach Park in London. M arianne Scott Zurich peewees win two ZURICH — The Zurich Pee Wee Girls beat Benmiller 6- 5, and Kincardine 14-12 recently to add two more wins as the ball season winds up. Benmiller came to Zurich July 30 and gave the home team a close game over seven innings. Benmiller jumped on the scoreboard in the first inning with one run, and added another in the second. Zurich remained scoreless until the third inning with singles by Jamilyn Daters, Jaclyn Rau, and Nicole Brideau and a triple by Erica Regier had the girls crossing the plate. Benmiller answered back in the fourth with two runs on hits to go ahead 4-3. Taelor Douglas tied the game with a single and after moving around on fielded hits stole home in the bottom of the fourth. Benmiller was kept score- less in the fifth while Zurich added one more run on a home rim by Megan Schade to go ahead 5-4. Benmiller scored one run in the sixth on a walk to tie the game again. Brideau scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth after connecting on a single and crossing the plate on a double by Jaemi Douglas. Benmiller was kept score- less with three strikeouts in the seventh. Nicole Dunn started the game strong for Zurich on the mound with Jen Lucas, Brideau and Taelor Douglas taking turns as well. Jaemi Douglas and Kelsey Oke were strong behind the plate sharing catching duties. Zurich travelled to Kincardine Aug. 2 for a hot duel. Zurich scored first with Jaemi Douglas and Taelor Douglas. Kincardine answered back with six runs to go ahead. Natalie DePaepe and Daters scored in the second for Zurich. Kincardine came back with three rims on walks and hits. Zurich went ahead in the third with seven runs scored by Brideau, Schade, Dunn, Linette Melick, Daters, Alyssa Sweiter and Taelor Douglas. Kincardine answered back with runs to go ahead 12-11 in the fourth on hits. Zurich dug deep and Melick lead the charge with a home run followed with runs scored by DePaepe and Jaemi Douglas to go ahead 14-12. Dunn started the game on the mound and was relieved by Taelor Douglas and Brideau. The pitching staff fought an interesting strike zone and the humidity to notch six strikeouts in the last three innings. Jaemi Douglas kept her cool behind the plate and had some key throws to get base runners out. Zurich's next game is tonight (Wednesday) in Benmiller before heading to the Huron -Perth league final tournament in Kirkton this weekend. POLICE BRIEF ATV stolen from Ilderton Road MIDDLESEX — A 1997 4 - wheel Brown Suzuki King Quad was stolen from Ilderton Road in Middlesex Centre July 21. The ATV was taken from the shed, possibly by a suspicious male on the property sometime during the day.
