Neighbours come together for harvest
By Pat Bolen

MT CARMEL — "Neighbours. What
would you do without them?" said
South Huron ward one Coun. Jim
Dietrich as neighbours and friends of
Bill and. Helene Regier came togeth-
er last week to bring in 90 acres of
straw of the Regiers.
Bill's son Dale Regier said the
effort was the idea of Dennis
Dietrich, who asked if it would be all
right if a group helped bring in the
straw and Dale agreed.
Among the group helping were
Jack Speirs, Steve McCann, Uwe and
Frank Dietrich and Mike Brannon
as two harvesters, seven wagons and
several tractors and balers brought
in the straw.
Dennis said the idea started after a few of the neighbours got talking. "We thought we'd
a crew together and get it done," said Dennis.
"Bill was always worried about the next job. It's nice to get the straw done," he added.

Five more Huron Park properties bought
By Pat Bolen

HURON PARK — "When I stood here at the sign in
2004, I didn't think the journey would be so long, but it
has all been worthwhile...we have secured the future for
Huron Park."
That was the message delivered by Huron -Bruce MPP
Carol Mitchell at Goderich Aircraft Friday as it was
announced that five more industrial tenants of Huron
Park have purchased their properties.
Mitchell said the companies buying their properties
are Exi-Plast Custom Moulding Ltd, Gnutti Ltd, Goderich
Aircraft Inc, Saf-T-Cab and Huron Mini Mart.
Mitchell added that in 2006, two additional properties
in Huron Park were sold to Dunline Rubber Products
Company and Bluewater Recycling Association for a
total of 550 jobs.
Mitchell said the province has worked closely with the
municipality and noted that Greg Dadd, who took over
as the Ontario Realty Corporation (ORC) chief operating
officer in November 2006, was a major reason for the
sales.
"When Greg came aboard, things started to happen,"
said Mitchell who added the ORC is fmalizing a deal with
another tenant.
Mitchell said the deal is only for the betterment of
Huron Park and that the McGuinty government is com-
mitted to getting a fair return on the properties for tax-
payers.
"I see the future is bright," said Mitchell. "There were
days I didn't think I'd be here."
Huron County Warden Deb Shewfelt congratulated
Mitchell and the municipality and said Huron County
will be made stronger with improvements in areas like
Huron Park.
South Huron Mayor Ken Oke said, "these sales repre-
sent real positive results in building a successful and
prosperous future for the families and businesses of
Huron Park.
"On behalf of the Municipality of South Huron, I would
like to recognize the companies that have purchased
land and established their businesses in Huron Park.
Not only have they provided a tremendous economic
boost to our municipality, but their confidence and com-
mitment to this area is sure to help bring new invest-
ment, new jobs, and a more prosperous future for our
entire municipality."
Oke added that Parkbridge Lifestyle Communities
purchased the residential portion of the park comprising
360 homes on 117 acres and has renamed it Huron
Village Green.
Dadd said the key to securing the sales "was under-
standing what the owners wanted as well as providing
value to the taxpayers...and we achieved both."
