Judith Ritchie was in charge of the regular church service on Sunday morning. Rev. Judith lit the Christ Candle. Everyone sang the hymn Shall We Gather At the River. Rev. Judith gave words of welcome and everyone passed the Peace. The Introit We Praise You For Your Love was sung. Rev. Judith led in the call to worship in unison, and the opening prayer respon- sively. Rev. Judith gave the announcement and lit the red candle for Peace. Rev. Judith read from the Old Testament Isaiah 43:1-7. Rev. Judith had Sydney and Mitchell Rowcliffe and Justin Pym help pour water in the baptismal font and she asked the children about the water, water to live with tears sad or happy etc. The Lord's Prayer was sung in unison. The choir sang I've Got An Anchor In Jesus accompanied by the pianist Marilyn Vandenbussche. Rev. Judith read the Gospel Lesson John 4:1-29. The Woman At the Well. Everyone was handed a glass and Rev. Judith and her daughter Samantha filled our glasses with water. The title of Rev. Judith's message was "Water, Water, Everywhere," as Rev. Judith mentioned the word water each person would take a sip of water. Everyone sang the hymn Where Cross the Crowded Ways of Life, and said the "Apostles' Creed." Helen Kadey and Beth Cooper received the offering, and everyone sang Praise God from Whom all Blessings Flow. Everyone read the offertory prayer in unison. Everyone was handed a piece of paper to write a prayer on, and hand it to Rev. Judith and she said prayers for the people. The hymn Jesus Calls Us was sung. The commis- sioning and benediction were read responsively. Rev. Judith said the blessing before lunch. The choral Amen was sung. A bountiful smorgasbord lunch and beverage was partaken of which brought a very impressive morning to a close. Happy Birthday was sung to Beatrice Dawson, Marion Cann and sydney Rowcliffe. July 29 -"Horse and Buggy" Community of Local United Churches service at Kirkton U.C. shed at 10 a.m. Please bring your lawn chairs. BBQ hot dog and ice cream sundae lunch to follow the service. Aug. 15-UCW Mystery Run, 5:15 p.m. departure THAMES ROAD NEWS from the church parking lot. Food, fun, fellowship and mystery. Note the change of date. Please pass this news around to others that are usually unable to attend worship and encour- age them to join us. Personals Many people from this area attended the "Come and Go Tea" for a surprise 80th birthday party for Myrtle Pengelly at the home of Arnold and Ila Mathers, Exeter on Sunday afternoon. It was a special surprise for Myrtle as her sister Doris and Lorne Listoen of B.C. were in attendance. Quite a number of people attended the Mystery tour, a country supper and an evening of fellowship and fun for a surprise 80th birthday for Marion Cann on Sunday (July 26 is her birthday). It was hosted by Rick and Judith Parker's family and Brad Cann and sons. Quite a number of people from this area attended the 50th wedding anniversary celebration for Bill and Fern Dougall on Saturday evening at S.H.R.C. Exeter. Congratulations Bill and Fern. Happy birthday is extended to Ross Hodgert whose birthday is July 29 and to Vanessa Bray whose birth- day is Aug. 3. Barry and Melonie Miller, Dave and Sharon Passmore returned home on the weekend after having been to the East Coast. Legion comrades installed - Four new comrades were installed at the recent general meet- ing of the Exeter branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.
