"Horse and Buggy" service at Kirkton United
By Rhoda Rohde
THAMES ROAD CORRESPONDENT
THAMES ROAD - Rev. Judith Ritchie was in charge of
the regular church service on Sunday morning. Rev.
Judith lit the Christ Candle. Everyone sang the hymn
Shall We Gather At the River.
Rev. Judith gave words of welcome and everyone
passed the Peace. The Introit We Praise You For Your
Love was sung.
Rev. Judith led in the call to worship in
unison, and the opening prayer respon-
sively.
Rev. Judith gave the announcement
and lit the red candle for Peace. Rev. Judith read from
the Old Testament Isaiah 43:1-7.
Rev. Judith had Sydney and Mitchell Rowcliffe and
Justin Pym help pour water in the baptismal font and
she asked the children about the water, water to live
with tears sad or happy etc.
The Lord's Prayer was sung in unison. The choir
sang I've Got An Anchor In Jesus accompanied by the
pianist Marilyn Vandenbussche.
Rev. Judith read the Gospel Lesson John 4:1-29. The
Woman At the Well. Everyone was handed a glass and
Rev. Judith and her daughter Samantha filled our
glasses with water.
The title of Rev. Judith's message was "Water,
Water, Everywhere," as Rev. Judith mentioned the
word water each person would take a sip of water.
Everyone sang the hymn Where Cross the Crowded
Ways of Life, and said the "Apostles' Creed."
Helen Kadey and Beth Cooper received the offering,
and everyone sang Praise God from Whom all
Blessings Flow. Everyone read the offertory prayer in
unison.
Everyone was handed a piece of paper to write a
prayer on, and hand it to Rev. Judith and she said
prayers for the people.
The hymn Jesus Calls Us was sung. The commis-
sioning and benediction were read responsively. Rev.
Judith said the blessing before
lunch.
The choral Amen was sung. A
bountiful smorgasbord lunch and
beverage was partaken of which brought a very
impressive morning to a close. Happy Birthday was
sung to Beatrice Dawson, Marion Cann and sydney
Rowcliffe.
