Eight homes participated in the tour, featuring above Bill and Julie Duckworth of Huron Street in Exeter.The stone fire- place built by Bill was a main attraction. Below, Faye and Paul Vas Oss of Victoria Drive in Centralia also took part, showcasing a traditional English garden with a pond.The amount raised was unknown as the T -A was going to print.The Exeter Lioness are still accept- ing donations to be given to one of the group mem- bers. (photos/Nina Van Lieshout) Hullett butterfly walk CLINTON — To see something they've never seen before, butterfly watchers are invited to the next guided Butterfly Walk happening on Saturday at 10 a.m at the Hullett Provincial Wildlife Area (HPWA). The walk will start at the HPWA office located at 41378 Hydro Line Road, east of Clinton. There have been 29 different species of butterfly spot- ted on the property to date this year according to staff. Highlights include a Spicebush Swallowtail that was found in the Sugar Bush in June. This species is normally a more southerly Carolinian species, found mainly at Point Pelee. Other species include the Tiger Swallowtail, Eastern Tailed Blue, Great Spangled Fritillary, Baltimore Checkerspot, Eastern Comma, Red Admiral, Red -spot- ted Purple, American Lady and the Monarch. Good views of butterfly species can be had nearly everywhere at the HPWA. Bring the family, come out and get some fresh air, explore nature and check out some butterflies along the way. Participants assembled at the Cenotaph corner and the parade proceeded up the main street to the park at 11 a.m. All of the children in the parade received prizes and all in costume were judged and awarded prizes. Some floats included the Granton Masonic Lodge's in honour of their 100th anniversary with member, Carl Mills, playing the bagpipes. Three horses, owned by Stanley Malcolm's daughter, were also in the parade. There were games and activities at the park, as well as a refreshment booth and vendors. Granton -Wesley United Church At the Granton -Wesley United Church on Sun., July 22, Rev. Kathy Wreford and the Lucan United Church congregations worshiped in a joint service. Rev. Wreford lit the Christ candle and lead the service. The Scripture readings were from Psalms 92 and Romans 12. The message was "A Guide for Spiritual Growth." Next Sun., July 29, will be breakfast in the park with Bob Heywood. The Vacation Bible School will be held at the Granton -Wesley Church July 30 and Aug. 3 for chil- dren five and older, and the theme is water. Bridal Shower Susan Bryans was honoured at a community shower at the Granton Park Pavilion on Monday, July 16. Nancy Mills opened the program with a reading about the home and later read a poem about the bride. Elizabeth Garrett gave three readings about love and marriage, including an oldie from Ann Landers. Susan was assisted by her sister Jean with her many gifts. Susan expressed thanks to everyone and refresh- ments were enjoyed. The shower was held at the park because of renovations being done at the church.
