The Avon Maitland District School Board invites applications for the position of
Maintenance Officer
Effective immediately, an opening exists for a
Maintenance Officer at the Facilities Centre in Seaforth
Reporting/Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Facilities Administrator, the key responsibilities of this position include:
• management and supervision of unionized skilled trades and outside contractors;
• planning, coordinating and overseeing repairs and maintenance activities at all facilities;
• assisting with the development and monitoring of the maintenance budget;
• Evaluation, testing and specification of products, equipment and materials;
• Performing general administrative duties.
Qualifications & Experience
3 years post -secondary education in a business and/or maintenance -related field or equivalent and
5 years of related experience in construction management and maintenance at a supervisory level,
preferably in an educational setting.
Job Skills
• Leadership, communication, employee -management and interpersonal skills for effective working
relationships with all staff, outside contacts, union officials and trades personnel;
• Experience in developing budgets and understanding of accounting methods;
• Extensive knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment in various trade disciplines;
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and specifications;
• Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements, codes and acts;
• Effective project management and problem -solving capabilities;
• Excellent computer literacy skills including standard office software applications, AutoCad,
electronic maintenance and management systems;
• Valid class G drivers license with access to reliable vehicle.

truck operator to become an integral part of the trucking
team at the Hensall location in the position of:
TRACTOR -TRAILER DRIVER
Some of the responsibilities of this position
will be as follows:
• Obeying all MTO regulations with strict adherence to
legal weights and hours of driving
• Completing all circle checks correctly and
keeping the truck professional looking and on its
maintenance schedule.
• Completing truck logs correctly as per regulations and
handing them in on a timely basis
• Ensuring product does not become contaminated
• Maintaining a courteous and professional relationship
with customers
• Following dispatch instructions and ensuring that pickup
and drop off is done as safely and efficiently as possible
• Maximizing truck revenue wherever possible various
other duties as per seasonal requirements
We require an individual with an AZ licence, 3-4 years
experience driving B -trains or dump trailers, a clean driver's
abstract, and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Most driving assignments are within 300 km of Hensall.
This is a full-time position with weekends and overtime as
required. HDC offers competitive remuneration with a

MAINTENANCE MECHANIC to service our branches,
working out of our Hensall location.
Responsibilities would include:
• Preventative and proactive maintenance of grain
elevators, processing equipment, fertilizer and
custom application equipment
• Welding to include fitting and fabrication
• Troubleshooting - equipment breakdowns
and repairs
• Blueprint reading and comprehension
Applicants would ideally have two years welding and
cutting experience and also have a minimum of a DZ
driver's license. The ability to climb with no fear of heights
is a necessity and you must be willing to work overtime
during peak periods. Knowledge of grain cleaning
equipment and HACCP procedures would be considered
an asset.
