Glena Olcen contributes her talent of music for our singing of Oh Canada, the Grace before our meal, as well as flowers from her flower garden and the occasional reading from some e-mails. These provide some humor. Deb Bosbey of Wingham Sweets and Treats demonstrated the making of many Planning under way for Race HURON — Aug. 25 is approaching and the planning team for the 3rd annual Huron United Way Amazing Race has been meeting and plan- ning for an outstanding event this year. "Different this year is that all rac- ers will complete almost the entire race before any elimination takes place," said race co-ordinator Linda Finkbeiner. "We really want to give every racer a taste of the whole day and they are raising funds for such a great cause." Last year racers calf roped, paintballed and karaoked their way across the county in a race for the coveted first place and a prize of $1,500. This year the first place team will win a $2,500 travel voucher and the second place team will take home a $1,500 travel voucher. Only 30 teams of two will compete and the first 10 registered are guar- anteed a spot, the next 10 are selected on application creativity and the last 10 are random draw. Huron United Way executive director Kimberley Payne said orga- nizers are still looking for teams and volunteers. The registration date has been extended to Aug. 1.
