Planning under
way for Race
HURON — Aug. 25 is approaching
and the planning team for the 3rd
annual Huron United Way Amazing
Race has been meeting and plan-
ning for an outstanding event this
year.
"Different this year is that all rac-
ers will complete almost the entire
race before any elimination takes
place," said race co-ordinator Linda
Finkbeiner.
"We really want to give every
racer a taste of the whole day and
they are raising funds for such a
great cause."
Last year racers calf roped,
paintballed and karaoked their way
across the county in a race for the
coveted first place and a prize of
$1,500. This year the first place
team will win a $2,500 travel
voucher and the second place team
will take home a $1,500 travel
voucher.
Only 30 teams of two will compete
and the first 10 registered are guar-
anteed a spot, the next 10 are
selected on application creativity
and the last 10 are random draw.
Huron United Way executive
director Kimberley Payne said orga-
nizers are still looking for teams
and volunteers. The registration
date has been extended to Aug. 1.
To register, volunteer or inquire
about sponsorship, call 519-524-
7900 or e-mail
