Judith Ritchie was in charge of the regular church service on Sunday morning. Rev. Judith lit the Christ candle. Everyone sang the opening hymn Love Divine, All Loves Excelling. Rev. Judith gave words of welcome and everyone passed the Peace. The Introit We Praise You for Your Love was sung. Rev. Judith led in the call to worship responsively, and the opening prayer in unison. Rev. Judith gave the announcements. Everyone sang Happy Birthday to Myrtle Pengelly whose birthday was July 15. Joyce Fulton lit the red candle for Peace. Rev. Judith read the Gospel lesson Luke 10:25-37. Rev. Judith told Justin Pym about "Mustard and How We Love Jesus." The Lord's Prayer was sung in unison. The choir sang I Will Follow Jesus accompanied by the pianist Marilyn Vanenbussche. It was a very impressive anthem well done. The Epistle Lesson: Colossians 1:-14 was read by Joyce Fulton. The title of Rev. Judith's message was "Inside Out." The hymn What a Friend We Have in Jesus was sung. The Apostles' Creed was read in unison. Helen Kadey and Judith Parker received the offering. Rev. Judith gave prayers for the people. The hymn Come Let Us Sing OfA Wonderful Love was sung. Rev. Judith gave the commis- sioning and pronounced the benediction and everyone sang the choral Amen. There were five visitors at church namely, Ray and Alice Cann of Ladysmith B.C.; Rick and Beverly Mellanger of White Rock B.C. and Helen (Passmore) Annett of London. They were made quite wel- come. Announcements Rev. Judith will be around Thursday and Friday after- noons. If you wish to contact her, leave a message at the church or at her own phone number. For the service for July 22 and 29 contact Helen Kadey at 228-6484 if you have announcements for the bulletin. For the month of August while Rev. Judith is on holidays contact John Miner at 229- 6345 in the event of pastoral emergency or pastoral care. He will be able to put you into contact with the appropriate person. On July 22 there will be a beef barbecue at Centralia United Church from 5 to 7 p.m. for a delicious meal including home- made pies. For tickets call Judy Mills 228-6704 or Larry Skinner 229-6304. Adults $12 and for children (6-12) $6. July 14 - 20 - -Hensall.by.design Art Show and Sale at Hensall U.C. Admission is $5. Monday is Senior's Day and admission is $2.50. Show hours are Sat. - Mon. 10 a.m.- 4 p.m., Tues. - Thurs. 2 - 9 p.m., and Fri. 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. July 22 -Pot luck (blessing) lunch after the church service. Please bring your own cutlery, plates and glasses. Beverages THAMES ROAD NEWS will be supplied. July 29 -"Horse and Buggy" Community of Local United Churches service at Kirkton U.C. shed at 10 a.m. Please bring your lawn chairs. BBQ hot dog and ice cream sundae lunch to follow the service. Sept. 2 -We will celebrate Communion. We plan to wor- ship in the lower half of the church and to use the Voices United. Personals Sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of the late Jean (Morley) Hodgins who passed away on July 8. Jean wrote news for Lucan for the Exeter Times Advocate for a lot of years. Mary Gartenburg of Kingston had supper with her cousins Bill and Rhoda Rohde on Wednesday evening. Karel Hodgert of Toronto spent the weekend with her cousins Arnold and Marion Cann. Many relatives from this area attended the Hodgert reunion on Saturday at Dashwood and the Miller reunion at Hensall on Sunday. Happy Birthday to Beatrice Dawson on July 20 and to Marion Cann on July 26. 82nd Hodgert Reunion Not clouds, rain or wind could dampen the Annual Hodgert Reunion which was held Sat., Bike tour —The Greencycle, hosted by the Southwestern Ontario Outlook Project (SWOOP) was in Exeter July 7-8.The Greencycle is an environmental tour for youths which is about 70 kilometres long from Bayfield to Exeter to Cromarty. Above from left the group stopped at the South Huron Landfill Site last Saturday afternoon. Participants are Gabrielle Arkett, Charlene Falkenburger, Courtney Fuller, Emily Ryan, Kate Docking, SWOOP fundraising and outreach co-ordinator Emily Murray, SWOOP co -coordinator JosinaVink, SWOOP co -coordinator Angie Docking, Denise McClure, Maureen McClure and Ann Simmons. SWOOP is hosting a week-long EPIC conference in Exeter from July 23- 27 for youths aged 13 to 19.The event includes a trip to Camp Sylvan for an overnight stay. The registration deadline is July 18. Five clan members and Jean Hodgert, Marion Cann, Lois Hodgert, Don Bray and Wally Smolanski have either achieved or will achieve the young age of 80. while this group of five were being cheered and clapped to the front of the group, all five rose to the occasion by climbing atop of a picnic table. In unison Hodgert style Happy Birthday was sung with a presentation of a huge 80th cake also creative- ly decorated by Judith Parker.
