It is alleged on June 26, a 17 -year-old befriended a 73 -year- old Kitchener man with the understanding that money would be paid to the man if he drove the teen to Grand Bend. The elderly man agreed and picked up the teen, along with three of his friends. The teen took control of the man's 1996 Bonneville and refused to allow him to drive any further, refused to allow the man to stop for food, sleep or take required medication. On June 27 around 11:15 a.m., the vehicle was stopped in a traffic stop on Main Street in Grand Bend when an officer observed the occupants not wearing their seatbelts. In the vehicle was the 17 -year-old dri- ving the vehicle, the elderly owner in the passenger seat and three male teens in the rear seat. When the driver was unable to provide a licence, it is alleged that he verbally provided a false name to divert suspicion from himself. A passenger in the rear seat did likewise. Upon arresting the two for public mischief, the vehicle was searched. Found inside the vehicle was a small amount of suspected crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. It was then deter- mined by police how the elderly vehicle owner had been taken advantage of and subsequently treated. The four teens who will not be named given that their offences also relate to Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), are facing several charges. The elder- ly man was uninjured. MacKenzie says he's told stories for about 10 years, going professional eight years ago. MacKenzie says growing up he was always chatty, day- dreaming and wiggling around, all of which have helped him creatively in his career. Above, MacKenzie asked the parents to get involved, perform- ing a couple of actions while their children watched and laughed at them and MacKenzie who launched the Summer Reading Program at the library.
