Before and after Journaling workshop Tues.,July 24
Losing her locks — Eight-year-old Melody Cyr of
Zurich recently had her hair cut for a good cause as
she donated it to "Angel Hair for Kids," which pro-
vides human hair wigs at no cost to children of finan-
cially disadvantaged families. Melody had her hair cut
by Karen Kinsman of Klip N' Kurl, seen above. Melody
has seen family and friends go through chemotherapy
and radiation treatments and it makes her sad to
know they are sick. Donating her hair is Melody's way
of helping out."I'm very proud of her," says mom
Colleen. Below, Melody sports her new hairdo. (pho-

Sometimes we can't avoid eating fast food. When
we do, it's good to choose a veggie burger. It
contains about 57 per cent fewer calories and a
whopping 82 per cent less fat than traditional meat
burgers and it tastes pretty good too. After adding
al the trimmings, it's difficult to tell them apart. A good choice!
There is erroneous information being passed around that touts
"benefits" of drinking hydrogen peroxide. This can be very dangerous.
Some peroxides come in strengths as high as 35 per cent and can
cause serious harm to the stomach and intestine. Deaths have also
occurred from this practice. Stay away from it.
Melatonin can be useful in treating sleep -deprived persons. However,
timing of the dose is quite important. It should be given when the body
isn't producing melatonin naturally. This is during the day. A recent
study found that taking the drug during the daytime often produced a
better sleep at night. Melatonin is available without prescription in
Canada.
The interaction between grapefruit juice and some medications still
seems to cause some confusion. It doesn't help to leave a couple of
hours between juice and drug. Three days is better. How much juice
will cause the reaction? About 250m111 cup).
