The local squad lost to Byron 11-3 and the next night defeated Dorchester Sportswear 11- 6. Crediton 3 vs Byron 11 Crediton struggled to hit Byron's pitches, combined with some offensive and defensive errors, the team found itself constantly try to play `catchup'. Byron jumped on the scoreboard early scoring two runs in the first inning. The third inning seemed to be Crediton's demise when they allowed Byron to score six runs. Byron's bats were very powerful keeping fielders Angie Gould, Cathy Conlin and Kerri Fulton busy. All three fielders played exceptional, keeping the game within reach. Kathy Glen played a very strong third base with a double play. Kerri Fulton led her team at the plate with two singles. Angie Gould pounded out a long ball in the sixth inning scoring two runs, but was called out at home. Megan Preszcator pounded out a nice dou- ble in the second and was sent home by one of Fulton's singles. Single hits came from the bats of Amber Preszcator, Kathy Glen, and Marianne Scott. Scott pitched the seven innings for Crediton. Crediton 1 1 vs Dorchester 5 Crediton started off slowly allowing Dorchester to take a three run lead in the first inning. In the fourth inning, Dorchester again scored two runs to keep the lead. Crediton replied with two in the second inning and then tied the game in the fifth inning notching one run per inning In the sixth inning, Crediton broke the game open scor- ing six runs to cap the win. Angie Gould went four -for -five at the plate pounding out a home run in the second inning, two doubles and a single hit. Kerri Fulton played a very strong Meg Preszc an ator 'hot spot' but was also 'hot' at the plate hammering out a double and two singles. Carie Pertschy helped clinch the win with a triple in the sixth and a single in the second inning. Nikki Cyr successfully hit single hits in her first three trips to the plate. Kathy Glen started off the third inning with a double and smartly laid down two bunts. Cathy Conlin and Marianne Scott both had a double and a single apiece while single hits came from the bats of Megan Preszcator, Natalie Laporte and Amber Preszcator. Carie Pertschy was the starter for Crediton with relief by Marianne Scott. Crediton hosted Ilderton Juniors last night and head to Stronach Park on Sunday night for an 8:15 start. The local squad is enjoying a great fan base and the team is very appre- ciative of all the support it is given. Come out and enjoy some great fast - ball action! U-7 July 5 A close competitive game between the Red Rockets and the Blue Machine. The Red Rockets lead the game with two goals ahead through most of the game until the Blue Machine came back with a 2-2- tie. The Blue Machine narrowly missing a win by the whistle in the last second of the game. Great ball handling skills by Michelle and Joel and both goals made by Jakob. Some good passing by Kyla. Keep up the great work kids and above all else, KEEP HAV- ING FUN! U9 #4 July 5 Exeter 3 versus North Middlesex 1 Goalies: Zack Robinson and Brandon Crown Exeter U9 Gold Leopards 3 versus Exeter #1 (1) Goals: Patrick Medd (2) and Bradley Regier. Comments: Sam McEwan and Regier played great games in goal. Taylor McCann and Mitchell Sutherland were huge in the midfield and Emma McVeeney and Austin Glavin made terrif- ic passes all game. U9 June 28 Exeter 2 Green (4) ver- sus Exeter 3 Red (1) Goals: Kevin Vanderlaan (4) Excellent goaltending by Jeremy Johnston. A coor- dinated team effort sup- ported our scoring leader. July 5 Exeter 2 Green (1) ver- sus Grand Bend 2 (4) Goal: Kevin Vanderlaan Goalies: Jeremy Johnston, Alec Speers Solid defensive efforts by Isaiah Frielink and Charlie Tait limited the scoring attempts by a strong Grand Bend team! June 29 Exeter Lightning versus Exeter Thunder A strong effort was given against Exeter Thunder's strong defence. After going to the half 0- 0, the Lightning were able to score two goals for a 2- 0 win. Great work! July 5 Exeter Lightning versus Delko Colts The Lightning came out strong at the start of the game with high energy and great game play. With many players on holidays, the girls were still able to dominate the game. Karra McNutt netted her first goal as did Nikki Hern. Their hard work paid off with a 9-0 win over the Colts. U 12 Boys #3 Thunder July 4 South Huron 0 versus North Middlesex #1 (1) Coaches comments: A good effort against a strong team. We had our chances but could not score. July 6 South Huron 3 versus South Huron #1 3 Goals: Blake Gower, Nathen Boersma, Kelvin Knip Coaches comments: A great comeback from being down. You played as a team really well. Great job everyone. U13 July 4 Exeter 2 versus North Middlesex 1 Comments: Finally won our first game U16 July 6 Exeter 4 versus Grand Bend 1 Action packed — The Exeter Saddle Club held a show Sunday with riders competing in various events.
