Save with programs
STRATFORD — On June
20, Festival Hydro
announced they will help
customers conserve elec-
tricity, save money and
benefit the environment
by participating in 'The
Great Refrigerator
Roundup', `Summer
Savings' and 'The
Peaksaver' programs
supported by the Ontario
Power Authority.
"We are excited to be a
part of 'The Great
Refrigerator Roundup',
`Summer savings' and
The `Peaksavers pro-
grams'," said Bill Zehr,
president of Festival
Hydro Inc.
"By taking advantage of
these programs, the peo-
ple of Stratford, St Marys,
Seaforth, Brussels,
Dashwood, Hensall and
Zurich can play an
important role in using
electricity wisely and
reducing
peak elec-
trical
demand
over the
critical summer months,"
said Zehr.
This summer, electricity
consumers across the
province will be able to
choose from a variety of
incentives across the
complete spectrum of
energy efficient products
and services from retiring
their power hungry
refrigerators to tuning up
their central air condi-
tioners.
Customers interested in
improving the efficiency
of their central air condi-
tioners can also partici-
pate in the Ontario Power
Authority's program
called the 'Cool Savings
Program'.
"These programs repre-
sent the largest co-ordi-
nated effort Ontario has
ever made to encourage
consumers to use less
electricity," said Paul
Shervill, a vice-president
of the OPA.
"As Ontario moves
toward rebuilding its
electricity infrastructure,
the conservation initia-
tives of each resident
maintain and enhance
the sustainability of our
current power generation
and distribution system."
By combining offers and
watching their electricity
habits, con-
s°
sumers qualify
fora 10 per
cent credit on
electricity bills automati-
cally if they reduce their
current consumption of
10 percent over the same
period last year.
