As previously reported, the proposed project would involve Lambton Shores, South Huron and Bluewater and could cost $12 million The sewer project would include Pinery Provincial Park and the areas along Highway 21 north to St. Joseph, including Highway 83 to Dashwood. While Lambton Shores, and now South Huron, are in favour of the project, Bluewater still hasn't committed but has scheduled a public meeting for Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. at a location still to be deter- mined. With a motion Monday night, South Huron council made a commitment to participate in the project for the municipality's portion of Highway 21, but will only go ahead with expanding the sewage service to Dashwood if Bluewater participates (Dashwood is split down Highway 83 between South Huron and Bluewater). South Huron chief administrative officer Larry Brown said the Dashwood portion of the project is only viable for South Huron if Bluewater also partic- ipates. According to Brown's report presented at Monday's council meeting, Dillon Consulting has estimated the cost for South Huron to expand the Grand Bend treat- ment facility lies between $3,242,300 and $3,432,300 with completion dates ranging between June 2009 and July 2010. Dillon offered prices based on "convention- al" and "design build" construction and best and worst-case scenarios. The prices do not include the cost of the sewage col- lection system (the cost of putting sewers in the ground). See CENTRALIA page 3 Figure skater promotes Lucan on billboard By Pat Bolen TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF LUCAN — "Are you sure that's me?" That was the first thought of 13 -year-old figure skater Amanda Kelland of Exeter on seeing herself on a billboard promoting the town of Lucan which went up June 25. Kelland was skating at the Lucan Arena last year when a photographer was taking pic- tures at the arena and was later selected by the committee organizing the 'Move to Lucan' project. After another photo session, Amanda's picture was Photoshopped to create the bill- board which is located outside of Birr on Highway 4. "It's pretty exciting," said Amanda, daughter of Michaela and Sherman Kelland of Exeter. Amanda has also e-mailed Donald Trump, who runs a modelling agency, to say she is interested in modelling, although she hasn't heard any- thing back. Despite the larger -than -life picture, Amanda said being on a billboard doesn't feel any dif- ferent than skating alone on the ice. After a couple months break from skating, Amanda will be back on the ice this month. She got her start in skating on a backyard pond while the fam- ily was living in Newfoundland with a $5 pair of second hand skates and from the start Mikayla said it was difficult to get Amanda off the ice. Amanda has collected 24 medals in three years and was Canskater of the Year in her first year and is also working on a coaching career by helping the younger skaters in the club. She also thanks her coaches Marg Carey and Patty Dougherty, without whom she says her career would not have happened.
