June 16-17. Sixteen districts met in Burlington trying to become the Ontario champions and win the right to repre-
sent Ontario at the Canadian championship in Montreal Aug.19-25.The format of the tournament is a double knock-
out with teams playing 16 end games and two trial ends before each match with games lasting between two and a half
to three hours. Exeter (district 4) played six games on their way to the silver medal, defeating Kitchener 25-5 and los-

Pairs lawn bowling
LUCKNOW — District
4 held their pairs
playoffs in Lucknow
recently.
It was a two day
double knock -out for-
mat with five teams
entered including two
from St. Marys, two
from Exeter and one
from Lucknow.
Three teams were
put out on Saturday
with their second loss,
leaving Larry and
Jamie McLellan of St.
Marys with four wins
and one loss, to play
Peter McFalls and
Jurgen Fessler of the
Exeter club who were
undefeated through
the competition on
Saturday.
Sunday saw St.
Marys take the first
game 16-10 and forc-
ing a deciding match
for the championship.
Exeter rebounded
and were focused in
the final contest win-
ning it by a score of
16-7.
The winners now go
to the provincial
championships in
Woodstock this week-
end.
Express crush Forest
EXETER — Exeter
Express manager Doug
Fairbairn said it has
never happened before
as the Express scored
10 runs in the first
inning June 29 before
recording an out and
then coasted to a 15-5
win over Forest
The rally was
stoked by two 7
hits from Aaron
Patterson plus
one each from
Bobbie Grant,
Nick Regier,
Lonnie Hawke,
Jeremy Jeffrey, Tim
Eifert and Nate Burns.
In the mix were
walks to Burns, Adam
Leppington and
Darwin Barker.
Forest closed the gap
until another rally of
five runs sealed the
game in the 6th inning.
Hawke and Eifert led
the way with three hits
while Grant and
Patterson had two
each.
Jason Cox picked up
the win allowing no
runs over four innings
while striking out five.
Paul Elston hurled
for two innings and
gave up three
runs on five hits.
Terry Hogg
pitched one inning
allowing two runs
on two hits.
The team will have a
tough weekend ahead
as they face Lakeside
in London on Friday
and play a double
header against
Tillsonburg in Exeter
on Saturday at 1 p.m.
