Just 30 seconds later, Masse scored his second of the night off a faceoff, cutting across the net and making it 3-0. Moir shoveled home a rebound four minutes later and Jeff Smale's low slap - shot from the point before the period was over gave the Hawks what looked to be a comfortable 5-0 lead. But the Bulldogs weren't done and a cross ice pass redirected past goalie Justin Hayter gave them life. But 5-3 was all they could get as a the Hawks hung on for the win. "We didn't go out there with the intention of sitting back, but once they got that goal...they wanted more," Howard said. He said it was difficult to tell whether the layoff would help or hurt the team. "The jury will be out on that one...we'll have to wait and see." Sunday night versus Belmont, goals from Smale, Jamie Wolfe and Jason Stuckless gave the Hawks a 3-1 lead they didn't surren- der, as they cruised to a 5-1 win. Masse added a goal in the second and Moir sealed the win in the third as Josh Liddle, Joe Nesbitt, Masse, Darcy McCutcheon, Troy Elder, Smale, Scott Davies and Mike MacLean added assists.
