Being able to get a hamburger and fries at 2 a.m. was too cool for words. Seeing a guy juggling hatchets and escaping from a straitjacket was equally awesome. The turnout was good, with plenty of folks from the school and the com- munity out walking. The night was a bit icy, but the event was a successful one nevertheless. I did a bit of complex math today and determined we have six days left of school (those Grade 1 counting lessons turned out to be useful). Of course, after that we have exams. They start Thursday, and am I ever excited. And by excited I mean a bit concerned. If you're anything like me, I suggest studying now while you have the time instead of the night before. This is solid advice coming from a vet- eran of last-minute studying. The events for the school year are starting to wrap up. If you're looking for entertainment, I suggest "Pong." That game is fun for days. It's often treated almost jokingly but is something that should be looked at seriously. Hearing impairment can lead to depression and feelings of isolation. There is help and this help can enhance your life immensely. People often ask us about which is the best calcium supplement. Calcium carbonate has more calcium per tablet than others and is best taken with food. Calcium citrate has less calcium per tablet and can be taken between meals but is more costly than the carbonate. Always take some vitamin D daily with calcium. About 400 units should enhance the absorption of any calcium type. Sometimes splitting a tablet in half is appropriate. If, for example, you are taking 5mg of a certain drug and it comes as a 10mg tablet, splitting the 10 mg tablet might save you money because often all strengths of a drug are the same price. If you are splitting them yourselves, take the other half as your next dose. Certain tablets shouldn't be cut in half. This is due to their sustained release nature or because they have a special coating to reduce stomach discomfort. As your pharmacists, we will make you aware when splitting tablets is not advisable.
