Farmers' Market comes to Grand Bend
By Kaitie Jinks
TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF
GRAND BEND — The West Coast
Lions Club is hosting Grand Bend's
very own Farmers' Market, begin-
ning June 14 through to mid-
October.
The Farmers' Market will be
located on the Gill Road parking lot
each Wednesday from 8a.m. until
1p.m., selling various fresh fruits,
vegetables, homemade pies, baked
goods, dairy products, meat prod-
ucts, specialty foods, nursery stock
jams, flowers and even some crafts.
The Lions Club says this is a
"great community addition to the
events already happening in and
around Grand Bend."
The Grand Bend Farmers' Market
committee organizers have already
heard from several vendors hoping
to have a stall at the Market. There
are 25 spaces.
The grand opening is June 14
with ceremonies at 10 a.m.
There will be a ribbon cutting,
live entertainment and the opportu-
nity to purchase the items at the
Market.
"We are excited that the project
has taken off as well as it has," says
Christine Bregman.
Everyone is welcome to join in
celebrating the opening of the mar-
ket as it is "unique to Grand Bend,
and exactly what the area needs,"
said Bregman.
The Farmers' Market is ideal for
anyone who lives within the 60 km
radius.
"Many of the produce bought at
the Flee Markets in Grand Bend
come from a Farmers' Market,"
Bregman said. "Now the customer
can buy the produce locally, and
get to know the people and where it
is coming from. The most exciting
part of this market is the vendor -
customer relationship.
"We are looking forward to it, to
seeing everyone there in such a
great location."
