Special guests present were; Lion Dave Cole, District Governor of Paris; Lion Thom Herman, past Governor of Guelph; Lion Ian Robb, Cabinet Secretary of Guelph and Lion Geo Haycock of Woodstock. Awards were presented to Lion Vic Dinnin for 60 years of service; Lion Richard Erb for 30 years and Lion Carl Finkbeiner for 25 years. Members saw an interesting DVD about the Lions Club work with the blind, and how the used glasses help out many people and children. A surprise 50th Birthday Party was held for Marc Gelinas on Saturday, at Slo- Pitch city near Dorchester with a lot of friends and rela- tives attending from various places. Marc's birthday was on May 18. Come out and play Shuffleboard at the Zurich Complex on Thurs., June 1 or Mon., June 5 at 1 p.m. Both men and women are welcome to come out and play for free. Teams will be set up to play one day a week after that at $1.50 a person. Our sympathy goes out to the family and relatives of the late Judy Otterbein of Exeter, the wife of Wayne. Also to the family of Maud Hoffman who passed away last week. Get your ticket for the German Supper and Dance to be held June 16 at the Zurich Complex. The Brownies are having a ceremony on Wed., May 31 at their meeting. This enables them to advance to Guides in the fall. Parents are invited to the ceremony at the Lutheran Church Hall at 6 p.m. Judy and Lloyd VanHorn of Zurich, Sam and Julie Regier of RR 3, Zurich and parents Frank and Doreen Regier all enjoyed a week in Branson, Missouri travelling by motor home. Several family members of Earl Flaxbard from various places visited for a few days. John and Mary Jacobs of Hensall recently attended the Knights of Columbus Convention held in Toronto. Father Francis joined them on the Sunday. Happy 50th Birthday wishes to Carol Prang on May 30. A family get together was recently held at Black Bush School house. The next 150th Anniversary meeting will be on Wed., June 7 at 7 p.m. at the Lutheran Church Hall. Members are asked to return the money from the tickets sales for the German Supper taking place on June 16. The Agriculture meeting is Thurs., June 8, 7:30 p.m. at the Township Hall. The next free bus ride to the Bank of Montreal in Hensall is Fri., June 9 at 9:30 a.m. at the main corner. A Foot Care Clinic will be held Mon., June 12 from 8:30 to noon at Maplewoods Apartments. Cost is $13 a person and bring your own towel. Congratulations to Ryan Morrison and Amy Bierling who were married on Sat., May 27 in London. The groom is the son of Paul Morrison of Zurich. Several friends and relatives from Dashwood and Zurich area spent last week in Prince Edward Island to attend the wedding of Blake Schade and Sheri Shaw on Sat., May 27. The couple will be living in Ailsa Craig. Zurich Golden Agers are having a pot luck supper on Mon., June 12, 5:30 p.m. at the Township Hall. Thurs., June 8 - Tennis in Exeter. Visitors at the home of Bob and Heather Redick recently were daughter Kim and hus- band Anibal of Toronto and granddaughter Viviana. They spent a few weeks in Zurich. Now that summer has arrived it is time for the weekly barbecue lunch on Saturdays outside at Jerry Raders Homestyle Catering from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is great! Come out and listen to the music as well. 'The Fossil Guy', Bob O'Donnell of London visited Lucan Library last Saturday showcasing different fossils like a mammoth teeth, carbonized insects, coprolite (dinosaur poop) and a 28 -inch fossil fish with teeth in its jaw. Participants take part in vari- ous activities that stimulate both mind and body throughout their day at the centre.They are also able to join in on special day trips such as an upcoming Midwestern Day gathering of all Huron County Day Centres in Brussels in June and escorted shopping trips.
