Help raise money at Thames Road fun-a-thon on June 2

June 2 - Fun-a-thon from 7-10 p.m.
Parents are invited to come at 9 p.m.
and join in for a campfire. Money raised
will be split with Children for Chernobyl
and the M & S Fund. Sign up sheets,

June 4 - Church Service at 10 a.m.
Sunday School Celebration. Brett and
Virginia Warwick will be presenting
their slide/video presentation of their
recent trip to Belarus. Free-will offering
lunch after the service.
June 4 - South Huron Ministerial spon-
sor Christian Unity Sunday at 7 p.m. at
Zurich Mennonite Church. Poster on the
bulletin board downstairs.
June 11 - Strawberry and Ham sup-
per. Advance tickets. adults $10, chil-
dren ages 5-10 $5.
Rev. Judith Ritchie's home phone
number is 519-936-1306 and feel free to
call at any time. Office hours this week
are, Wednesday and Thursday 10 a.m.
to 1 p.m. and 2 to 6 p.m. Rev. Ritchie
will be home in the evenings and she
will be picking up her messages. Rev.
Judith will have coffee and tea available
for anyone who wants to drop in.
The different committee meeting will
be held on Wed., June 7 at 7 p.m. and
the council meeting at 8:15 p.m. in the
church basement.
The first Sun., June 4 will be items for
the Food Bank.
On Tues., June 13 the U.C.W. meeting
will be held in the church basement at 8
p.m. with the Christian Development
committee in charge namely. Program:

Town wide Granton garage sale June 24

GRANTON - At the Granton -Wesley United Church on
Sun., May 28 Lay Pastor Paul Vollick led the service.
The message was entitled The Lord is My Shepherd,
Psalm 23. The lessons were Psalm 23 version one, two
and three. The children's time theme was about Psalm
23 (a children's version). Paige Forron lit the Christ
Candle.
Everyone was treated to an ice cream sundae on their
way out of the church by Pastor Paul and Lucy Vollick.
The Vacation Bible Camp is scheduled for July 17 to
21. The Beef Supper in the park is to be held Wed.,
June 21. An all Granton garage sale will be held on
Sat., June 24.
At St. Paul's Anglican Church in Kirkton on Sun., May
28 Rev. Dalice Sim celebrated the Holy Eucharist. The
message was about the light streaming through stained
Glass Windows that glorifies God's Love for everyone.
John Urquhart read the lessons. Rev. Dalice also led the
dedication of the Blackler windows in memory of
Steven and his father Garth, given by their family. A
time of fellowship followed the service.
St. Paul's Anniversary service is to be held next Sun.,
June 4 at 9:15 a.m.
Several from St. Paul's, Kirkton attended the ordina-
tion service at St. Paul's Cathedral in London for Rev.
Christine Downey on Thursday evening May 25.
Christine assisted Rev. Dalice Sim at Kirkton prior to
becoming a deacon and is now in charge of an Anglican
parish in Woodstock.
Rebekah Assembly of Ontario in London
LONDON - Grand Lodge and the Rebekah Assembly
of Ontario held their annual meetings at the Hilton
Hotel in London, from May 7 - May 10. Those attend-
ing from the Exeter lodges were Beverly Campbell,
representative; Elaine Skinner, scholar; Shirley Cooper,
district deputy president; Jean Hodgert, chaplain of the
Rebekah Assembly of Ontario; Cecil Pepper and Claire
Wright, representatives to the Grand Lodge of Ontario.
Shirley Cooper extended a welcome on behalf of the
planning committee to about 400 worshippers, who
heard a message entitled "The Value of the Soul" given
by Rev. John R. Graham of Elmvale, who is deaf and
communicates through sign language. He is the first
deaf minister in Canada. He presented a very interest-
ing message through an interpreter, and a video tape.
The worship service was followed by a memorial ser-
vice, remembering all our members who have been
deceased this past year. Jean Hodgert, Assembly
Chaplain of Ontario, assisted in this impressive service.
Sessions convened on Monday at noon and continued
until Wednesday at noon, when a new slate of officers
was installed. Several Exeter Rebekahs and Odd
Fellows attended the sessions.
Hensall celebrates Presbyterian church's anniversary

HENSALL - The Hensall Spring
Fair will be held on Sat., June 10 at
the Hensall Community Centre.
The Bluewater Tug -of -War Club
will be hosting a Senior Elementary
School tug-of-war competition with
a guest team, competition begins at
1 p.m. There will also be food, a
kids midway, animals, clowns, a
mini tractor pull, Tinker Tots
Nursery School activities, and much
more. Admission is free, please
bring a non-perishable food item.
Activities begin at 11 a.m. with wel-
come and the Talent Show in the
Auditorium. After the talent show,
the Ambassador Competition will
begin. Young people interested in
the Ambassador Competition or
Talent Show should contact
Artemysia Fragiskatos at 262-3544.
The prince and princess of the fair
will be chosen by random draw
after the Ambassador Competition.

Registration for the Kids Mini
Tractor Pull begins at 12:45 p.m.
The tractor pull will be held after
registration in the auditorium.
There will be a special animal dis-
play at the "Old McDonald's Farm"
area. The Hensall United Church
Youth Groups will be presenting a
Homestyle Family Dinner from 4
p.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 per
person, children's tickets will also
be available. There will be beef,
potatoes, vegetables, and dessert.

At Carmel Presbyterian Church a
large crowd met to celebrate the
158th anniversary. Rev Nicholas
Vandermey was the guest minister
and also conducted Communion
assisted by Robert Bell, Al
Hoggarth, Harry Moir, and Frank
Varley. Joyce Pepper and Dorothy
Taylor were the musicians for this
special service. The Tinker Tots
Nursery School with their teacher
Linda Marten sang several songs
which were greatly enjoyed by all.
The children all went to the lower
level for fun and stories with their
teacher and Tracy Whitson-Bahro,
the minister at Carmel Presyterian
Church. Special guests for this ser-
vice were the Tinker Tot's parents
and Hensall United Church people.
The service closed with benedic-
tion. Lunch and a social time fol-
lowed.

relatives in the passing of their aunt the
late Florence Richardson on Thursday.
She was the mother of Karel Hodgert of
Toronto and Brian and Brenda Hodgert

POLICE BRIEF
Vehicle fails to remain on scene
BLUEWATER — On May 27 around 12:00 a.m. an
unknown vehicle lost control and struck a fence at
34477 Mill Road. The vehicle fled the scene and is
believed to have extensive damage to the front of the
vehicle or undercarriage. Damage to the owners
property is in excess of $300. The investigation is
continuing.
Shuffleboard comes to
Zurich starting June 1
ZURICH - New to Zurich Complex--SHUFFLE-
BOARD--Which is open to all in the community new
players have the option of giving the game a try on
Thurs., June 1 at 1 p.m. or Mon., June 5 at the same
time - no charge. Zurich diners now have another
option of entertainment with the four shuffleboard
courts painted on auditorium floor.

IMPORTANT NOTICE WATER RESTRICTIONS
To conserve water, the Bluewater Public Works Department
has found it necessary to impose water restrictions on all
municipal owned water systems.
Effective June 1 and until October 1, the following schedule for
the use of watering will be permitted for Residential customers
(households).
The watering of flower beds and gardens with a hand held hose
is permitted on any day. The watering of anything else with a
hand held hose or any other device is restricted to the follow-
ing dates.
Odd numbered houses on odd numbered calendar days from
7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Even numbered houses on even numbered calendar days from
7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
The last digit of your house or 911 number determines if your
property (house) is odd or even. These regulations are neces-
sary to provide an adequate supply of water. Special permission
may be obtained to establish a new lawn.
