The Crediton squad is a strong blend of past gifted players with some very talented additions to the team. Crediton 4 vs Ilderton 7 A slow start for the first game of the season found the Crediton Laurmart Juniors on the losing side of a 4-0 game until the sixth inning when four runs crossed home plate to tie the game. In the seventh inning a miscalcu- lation found three runs cross the plate with Crediton not being able to get a rally in its last bat. Angie Gould led her team at the plate with a triple and a single, Carie Pertschy and Kelli Fulton each pounded out two singles while single hits came from the bats of Megan Preszcator, Kerri Fulton, Katie Glavin and Marianne Scott. Scott pitched the first three innings notching two strike- outs with relief from Carrie Dixon with five strikeouts. Crediton 10 vs Dorchester 0 The Laurmart Juniors/ Intermediates started the game against Dorchester strongly and never looked back. The local team only allowed two base hits by its opponents and three of the five innings found Dorchester with three up and three down. Amber Preszcator led her team at the plate with three singles with one being a perfectly -placed bunt. Cathy Conlin, Carie Pertschy and Carrie Dixon added two singles with single hits off the bats of Katie Glavin, Kelli Fulton, Kerri Fulton and Janelle Dykstra. Glavin had a strong game at shortstop along with smart catch- ing by Prout. Dykstra started the game as pitcher notching one strikeout with relief from Carrie Dixon with two strikeouts. Crediton 18 vs Byron Int. 1 It was a real slugfest for the Crediton Laurmart team when they came up against Byron Int., defeating them 18 to 1 in five innings. Kerri Fulton's bat was `on fire' pounding out three triples and one single. Cathy Conlin and Angie Gould pounded out three singles, Megan Preszcator a double and single and two singles were added by Kelli Fulton, Carie Pertschy, Katie Glavin, Marianne Scott and Julie Prout. One of Prout's singles was a nicely -placed bunt. Carrie Dixon and Amber Preszcator added single hits. Scott started the game as pitcher with Dixon coming in as relief notching six strikeouts. The Junior/Intermediate team consists of players Megan and Amber Preszcator, Cathy Conlin, Kelli and Kerri Fulton, Carie Pertschy, Julie Prout, Angie Gould, Carrie Dixon, Katie Glavin, Marianne Scott, Janelle Dykstra with relief from Jessica Davies, Jessica Bray , Nikki Cyr, Natalie Laporte and Marcy Brink.. Crediton's home games are main- ly Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. Come out and watch some great fastball action. Kerr i Fulton A Pre mber szcator London Cup rugby tournament EXETER — The girls and the senior boys rugby teams played in the London Cup tournament last Wednesday. The girls won their first game against Sarnia Northern on penalty kicks with Tristen Caldwell kicking the winner. They won their next game against St. Mary's from Owen Sound, also on penalty kicks with Elana McTavish kicking two penalties. The girls lost their next game, the semi-final, to St. Anne's 20-0 and narrowly lost the third place game to Brantford St. John's 10-5, with McTavish scoring the try. McTavish was selected MVP of the day and the team finished in fourth place. Caldwell and Shea Sutherland played superbly throughout the day, coach Terry O'Rourke said. "Well done girls." O'Rourke went on to say that the senior boys also played very well and, like the girls, put forth an excellent effort. They lost their first game to St. John's 15-0 and then won their second game to Waterford 3-0 on penalty kicks. They defeated East Elgin 10-5 in tries from Mitch Iredale and Matt Lovie. In their fourth game they tied 10-10 with Woodstock C.I. with Iredale scoring two tries. The boys lost the game on penalty kicks. Iredale was selected MVP of the day and all the players made positive contributions.
