((photos/Pat Bolen) Special Mother's DayTea a success HENSALL — Carol Lebeau's wonderful piano music, refresh- ments, and love for their mothers drew numerous family members to Queensway's Sunday afternoon Mother's Day Tea. It was gratify- ing to have a full house of resi- dents and guests on such a special day. Monday afternoon the Hensall United Church women provided assistance and prizes for all the bingo participants. In the evening crokinole fans in the retirement residence enjoyed some friendly competition. Social Worker, Shirley Hall facili- tated the monthly Family Council meeting Tuesday morning. Family and friends of residents are encouraged to be part of the Family Council and anyone inter- ested can call 262-2830 ext 224 for further details. In the after- noon Shirley Luther of the Salvation Army with her husband Eric as volunteer pianist led wor- ship. Auxiliary volunteer, Francis Kinsman was in Wednesday to help organize the euchre games. She had three tables of euchre enthusiasts benefiting from playing their favourite game. In the retirement residence Thursday afternoon, Wilbert Schwint had everyone in the lounge entertained as he played the "Whiskey Bottles." He fills each bottle to varying degrees therefore drawing different musi- cal notes from each one. It was a fascinating performance. Residents were busy Friday afternoon working on making gift tags. Thurs., May 25 - 6 p.m. Senior Diners - 7 p.m Birthday party with the Merrymakers. Words of wisdom to beauti EXETER - On Tues., May 9 Anna - Marie Cook welcomed 25 ladies to our monthly CWL meeting. We opened with our league prayer. Elaine Keller introduced Carla Goodfellow and spoke about two businesses she and her husband Eric run in Exeter, Godalt Lanscape Design and Seasonals. Carla gave great suggestions to beautify our properties and ended with wonder- ful words of wisdom. Plant your garden with three rows of peas: Peace of mind, piece of heart, and piece of soul. Four rows of squash: Squash gos- sip, squash indifference, squash grumbling and squash selfishness. Four rows of lettuce: Lettuce be faithful, lettuce be kind, lettuce be patient, and lettuce really love one another. Turnip for meetings, turnip for service, and turnip to help one another. Four rows of thyme: Thyme for each other, thyme for family and thyme for friends, thyme for laughter. A new fundraising idea will be proposed at the 9 a.m. Mass on Sun., May 21. Please give Michelle Sereda and her enthusiastic ladies from Food for Faith your undivided atten- tion and full support. A successful Mother's Day brunch was enjoyed by a huge crowd on Sun., May 7. The Youth Choir and Michelle Sereda and many volun- teers organized this day and every- one went away happy and full. Minutes of May meeting The monthly minutes were read by Jacqueline, correspondence by Mary and Anna- Marie gave the treasurer's report. Joan Agnew spoke to us about the Fun Night in Mitchell recently attended by some of our ladies. Mrs. Cook told us details from the Chatham Convention which Mary, Denise and herself were at April 26 and 27. 1st Communion May 28 Coffee will be served at the Group Confirmation 011 May 24 and ladies, please remember your goodies for the Group's 1st Communion on May 28. Mary, Gerry and Marlene will serve tea at the Exeter Villa on June 19.
