Sharon Lynn welcomed everyone and introduced the theme "Love Your Neighbour". Janet Coward gave the Call to Worship "The Star Fish" which was very interesting. The ladies sang accompanied by Marjorie Johns on the piano. Karen Etherington read the scripture Matthew 22:34-40. Sharon Lynn introduced a skit - a modern version of "The Parable of the Good Samaritan" with Sharon Lynn as the host, Janet Coward as the certain man and Karen Etherington as the good Samaritan which was well done. Sharon Lynn introduced Virginia Warwick and her son Brett who have lived in this area for 14 years, who recently went to Belarus for 10 days. Brett spoke first about Belarus and where it is situ- ated. Virginia gave a won- derful talk on the children of Chernobyl and about the young people that are coming over this summer and Brett showed pictures. It was real- ly interesting. Karen Etherington thanked the Warwicks and presented each of them with an enve- lope. Karen then led every- one in prayer. The ladies sang "When Mothers of Salem". Janet Coward spoke about Mother's Day and also what `Mother Used to Say.' A quartet of ladies namely Beth Cooper, Sharon Lynn, Judith Parker and Marilyn Vandenbussche sang "Thank You Lord For Mother's Day" and "In the Bible Mother Read" accompanied by Agnes Bray which was much enjoyed. President, Carolyn Johns spoke a few words about the Strawberry and Ham Supper - June 11, Camp Bimini - June 12, and Laura Skinner's wedding on June 17. Everyone went downstairs where Sharon Lynn said grace and everyone partook of delicious cake, beverage and chocolates which Virginia supplied. The desserts were made by Leona Cottle, Alma Ballantyne, Judith Parker, Kay Hodgert, Janis Richardson and Kathy Bray which brought an enjoyable evening to a close. There were about 60 ladies and some men in attendance. AFTERNOON U.C.W. The afternoon group of U.C.W. met at the church on May 11. Marion Dearing's group was in charge. Ruth Insley, Audrey MacDonald and Marion Dearing led in a short devotional. Ruth Insley and Elsie Tuckey sang a duet entitled "Mother" accompa- nied by Josie Ryckman. Plans were made for the Friendship Tea on June 1 and the day at Camp Bimini June 12. Elsie Tuckey, our president, passed around papers to sign for anyone going to Camp Bimini or the Day Away program at Siloam Church on July 22, so that we can car pool. The program on reflections of our mothers was led by Marion Dearing. We had great fun recalling things about our mothers. Marion also stressed that these memories and our own should be writ- ten down to pass on to our children and grandchildren. The meeting closed with a hymn and U.C. W. benediction. Lunch was served by Doris Denham and her group.
