Tries were scored by Shea Sutherland, Chantal Masse and Ashley Roger. The team showed some improvement even from Tuesday according to O'Rourke who said it was a well deserved victory. O'Rourke said the Junior Boys are also showing improvement but lost to a better team 34-5. Marcus Haccius scored the try as the team played a much better second half. Scott Masse and Shahriar Sabri played particularly well on the day. The Senior Boys came out with an inspired effort and defeated Mitchell 29- 5. It was their best game of the year and they domi- nated in all phases of play. Tries were scored by Tim Bilcke, Larry Northover, Chad Hackett and J.T. Knee who scored two tries. Knee also kicked two converts and played well according to O'Rourke. All in all it was a great day of rugby and all three teams should be proud of their efforts, said O'Rourke. (photos/Pat Bolen) Fury start season with exhibition win EXETER — The Exeter Fury played an exhibition game Sunday night at the Exeter Community Field versus St. Columban and came away with a 4-2 vic- tory. Exeter opened the scor- ing in the first half when Justin Muller fed a wide open Shawn McFalls just inside the 18 -yard box. McFalls was able tobury the shot into the back of the net. The Fury domi- nated the opening half, but were only able to come away with a lone goal. In the second half, the home side maintained the pressure and scored three goals in succession. Tom Phouttharath made it a 2-0 game when he headed the ball into the St. Columban net on an excellent cross from mid- fielder Geoff Hall. Pete McAllister quickly made it 3-0 on a play that developed from half. McFalls anticipated a St. Columban pass and got the ball to Ryan Carroll who in turn reached a streaking McAllister who made no mistake with his shot. Phouttharath rounded out the Fury scoring when he was sent in on the keeper and found the twine. Exeter seemed to let up in the final 20 minutes and allowed St. Columban to sneak back into the game with two goals of their own. "We need to learn how to play a full 90 minutes each and every time we step onto the field", McFalls was quoted as saying following the game. "We played a decent game with a lot of ball movement, but this is an area that needs some improvement." The Fury begin their 14th season of play on Sunday night at 7 p.m. at the Community Field against the Sarnia Fury. SPORTS Tips? Marsden is a right winger who describes himself as a "big strong competitor who likes to throw a big hit and get the team motivated." Marsden was a member of the Minor -Midget Huron Perth 'AAA' Lakers last sea- son with 17 goals and 10 assists in 50 games. He said eight teams were looking at him before the draft and it was either Kingston or Peterborough before he was taken by Kingston in the seventh round and 134th overall. Although the Frotenacs haven't talked to him yet, with the team only losing three overagers this year, Marsden said he just wants to go in "and have a really good camp." Although surprised he did- n't go earlier in the draft with as many teams looking at him, Marsden said he is still happy to be taken in the top half of the draft.
