HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Times Advocate, 2006-05-10, Page 1716 Exeter Times–Advocate Wednesday, May 10, 2006 Exeter hosted Beaveree 2006 Saturday, bringing in Beavers from Exeter, Grand Bend, Lucan, Zurich, Kirkton, Clinton, Goderich and Blyth for a day of fun and adventure.At Exeter Public School, Beavers played dodgeball, made crafts and launched a 60' by 15' high kite into the air. Following that, they headed to the Ausable River and, with the help of the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority's Matt Redmond, talked about the wildlife in the area. (above photo/submitted; right photo/Scott Nixon) New water and sewer rates approved in Bluewater By Pat Bolen TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF>_ VARNA — New water and sewer rates have been approved by Bluewater after three bylaws passed Monday night. The water and sewer rate bylaw was passed with a recorded vote, requested by Bayfield Coun. Dave Johnston, who described the bylaw as flawed. Water rates under the new bylaw are as follows: for 2006 Bayfield South, Hay, Hensall and Stanley wards metered; $209 per year plus 50 cents per cubic metre. The rates for 2007 will be $238 per year plus 50 cents. For Bayfield South metered decommisioned well customers the 2006 rates will be $345.75 plus 50 cents per cubic metre and for 2007 the rates will be $374.75 plus 50 cents per cubic metre. In Hay and Hensall wards the flat rate for 2006 will be $289 with the 2007 rate $318 per year. The flat rate in Zurich will be $366.74 with the 2007 rate at $395.74. Sewer rates in 2006 for Wildwood, Paul Bunyan and Sugarbush will be $163 per year plus 55 cents per cubic metre with a rate of $191 in 2007 and 55 cents per cubic metre. The Bayfield flat rate in 2006 will be $163 with a rate of $191 in 2007. In Hensall ward the flat rate will be $312 in 2006 and will stay the same in 2007. The Hensall ward metered rate will be 86 cents per cubic metre with a minimum bill of $312 and the same rate in 2007. The Zurich ward flat rate in 2006 will be $312 per year plus $36 per year debenture charge and the same rate in 2007. Dietrich said 16 septic permits were issued as of this time last year with nine issued in 2006 and five demolition permits have been issued this year compared to none at this point in 2005.
