Speed initiative
HURON — The Huron OPP and
Huron Road watch will be providing
a community speed sign at designat-
ed areas known to have aggressive
drivers and speeders.
The sign will be located in the
community for two days allowing
plenty of warning for aggressive dri-
vers.
OPP officers in Huron County will
then be out in full force with specific
emphasis on seat belts, alcohol and
aggressive driving.
The first initiative will be May 17-
19 in Dashwood.
According to National Traffic
Safety, speeding is one of the most
prevalent reported factors associat-
ed with crashes.
Speeding reduces the time drivers
have to avoid crashes and lengthens
stopping distances, increasing both
the likelihood of crashing and the
severity of the crashes that do occur.
Speeding is a factor in 31 per cent
of all fatal crashes affecting many
Canadians' lives every month, but
also the economic cost to society
which is in the billions each year.

EXETER — On Friday a hypnotist
came to South Huron. Nothing beats
seeing my fellow classmates making
themselves look ridiculous. Or being
made to look ridiculous, depending
on your opinion of hypnosis.
Needless to say, it's a skill I would
certainly like to learn. I doubt it'd
help me land a job or make friends,
but it would be a cool party trick.
Don't freak out if you missed this
highly entertaining event, there's
plenty more in the pipeline. The first
is the school play,
"Romeo and
Juliet." The cast
and crew of this
magnificent pro-
duction have been
working hard, and
their efforts will no
doubt be evident.
They are perform-
ing from Tuesday
night until Friday
night this week.
Tickets
(if there are any left) can be
bought in the Main Office or from
Village Vines for $7. The action
starts at 7:30 p.m.
Just for Chuckles comes the day
after "Romeo and Juliet," on
Saturday. There are five comedians
performing at this utterly hilarious
night of comedy. Tickets are $15
and can be snagged from SHDHS's
office or from Curves for Women in
Exeter. It's well worth it, especially if
you're the type that doesn't smile
much.
And of course a reminder that
Relay for Life registration forms can
be picked up from the main office or
downloaded online at

PET ADOPTION BULLETIN
Huron OSPCA (Ontario Humane Society)
HUGO
Hugo is a male, neutered, domestic shorthaired cat. He
is around 1 year old and just a lovely boy. He is
presently fostered in a home with two adults and
always wants to be with one or the other. If you relax in
a chair for a few moments, expect Hugo to jump right
up and be with you. He really enjoys being petted.
Hugo loves to play with balls of yarn, ping pong balls
and stuffed mice. He is a very powerful, muscular cat.
He is meticulous about cleaning himself and is very
tidy around the litter box. He certainly would be a
welcomed addition to any cat lover's home.
