Community of Local United Churches worship service

THAMES ROAD CORRESPONDENT
THAMES ROAD - A service celebrating
the Profession of Faith and Confirmation
of members was held in Usborne Central
School with over 150 people present.
The following churches participated:
Kirkton, Thames Road, Elimville, St.
Marys, Woodham, and Zion West United
Churches.
The Community Band of Kirkton and
Woodham supplied music before the ser-
vice commenced. Rev. Shannon Tennant
of Kirkton Woodham United Churches
gave words of welcome and the
announcements.
The call to worship was given by differ-
ent members of the Confirmation Class
responsively. Rev. Shannon lit the Christ
candle and gave the Prayer of Approach.
Members of the Confirmation Class
(Cameron Denham, Robin McKnight,
Megan Pavkeje, and Brett Warwick) read
the scripture Luke 24:13-35.
Rev. Shannon gave a talk entitled
"Change The World". Rev. Shannon
spoke about the Rite of Confirmation and
Dave Williams gave a prayer.
The offering was received by
Hayden Cann, Cameron Denham,
Helen Kadey and Melonie Miller. As
the offering was being received the
choir sang "He Came Singing Love".
Rev. Shannon gave the Offertory
prayer. Everyone shook hands and
passed the Peace. The hymn "Here I
Am, Lord" was sung.
Rev. Shannon and Dave Williams
gave the Communion prayers.
Members of the Confirmation Class
served the Communion. It was a very
impressive service.
Announcements
The red carnations at the front this
morning are in celebration of the
Confirmation Class of April 30, 2006
and especially for William John
Urquhart, placed by Marion Urquhart
and the other flowers are in memory
of the late Nellie Levy.
Kirkton-Woodham May 3 -
Woodham U C W , 8 p.m. at the home
of Sylvia Wheeler. Bring an article for
a silent auction. RollCall: The name
of a woman in the Bible whose name
starts with one of your initials.
May 5 - Woodham Messengers
Crokinole Party, 8 p.m. in the church.
Bring Crokinole boards. Everyone
welcome. Pot -luck lunch of sand-
wiches and squares.
May 7 - Kirkton Sunday School
Anniversary - Camping Sunday:

Camp Bimini.
Thames Road - Elimville May 3 -
Standing committees, 7 p.m., Council,
8:15 p.m.
The Joint Search Committee
requests a congregational meeting on
Sun., May 7, following the church ser-
vice to bring forward a name to be
called as our minister, starting date to
be May 15, 2006. A vote will be taken
to either accept or decline the issue
called.

ing good, etc.

required. This is an opportunity to
show your support for the camp, to
get some exercise, and to meet new

The May meeting of the U.C.W. will
be held on Tues., May 9 at 8 p.m. in
the church basement. Special enter-
taining - Centralia, Crediton, Hibbert
and Woodham. Program - Janet

Etherington, Sharon Lynn. Lunch -
Leona Cottle, Alma Ballantyne, Judith
Parker, Kay Hodgert, Janis Richardson,
Kathy Bray.
June 26 - Bruce and Cheryl Harding at
Centralia United Church, 7:30 p.m.
Several young people made their
Profession of Faith today. As each one
was called forward Rev. Shannon and the
elder from each church and the parents
of the young people laid hands on their
head. Dave Williams gave each a lit can-
dle. Marion Urquhart of Kirkton United
Church presented Cameron Denham,
Joey Siddall, and John Urquhart for
membership and presented each with a
Bible.
Rev. Shannon presented Lara
Middleton of St Marys United Church.
Robert Bray of Thames Road Elimville
United Church presented Hayden Cann,
Evelyn Johns, Robin McKnight, Megan
Pavkeje, Corey Smith and Brett Warwick
and each one received a Bible.
Sylvia Wheeler of Woodham United
Church presented Kim Brine and Kim
received a Bible.
Robert Bray presented Jessica Brock of
Zion West United Church and Jessica
received a Bible. Each young person
received a certificate.
Church Service - About 50 people
attended the Community of Local United
Churches' Worship Service on Sunday
evening in Thames Road - Elimville
United Church. Rev. Michelle Down, Rev.
Shannon Tennant, Rev. Paul Ross,
Wendy Noble, and Dave Williams led the
worship. Words of welcome were given
by Dave Williams and Robert Bray. Dave
lit the Christ candle.
Rev. Paul Ross led in a hymn sing, play-
ing his flute. Dave Williams led the the
Gathering prayer responsively. Everyone
sang the hymn "I Danced in the
Morning". Celebrating the dance
through conversation and candle lighting
was led by Rev. Michelle, Rev. Shannon,
Wendy, Rev. Paul and Dave taking part.
The choir sang "Nothing is Impossible"
accompanied by the pianist Marilyn
Vandenbussche. Hymn of Sharing of
Faith and Food: "Let Us Talents and
Tongues Employ" was sung.
Rev. Michelle led in Faith, Food and a
Community Table: Rev. Paul, Dave, Rev.
Shannon, Wendy and Rev. Michelle
responsively.
The choir sang "Following Jesus
Medley" accompanied by Marilyn
Vandenbussche. Rev. Michelle gave the
closing prayer. The closing hymn "The
Day You Gave Us, God Is Ended" was
sung. Rev. Shannon did a Liturgical
Dance. Wendy Noble pronounced the
Benediction.
Personals
Many people from this area attended
the Open House on Sunday for Frank and
Frances Kints in honour of their 40th
Wedding Anniversary which was April 16
at Precious Blood Church Hall in Exeter.

Congratulations to Philippe and Janet
Maes who recently celebrated their 25th
Wedding Anniversary (May 2, 1981) at
their home with family and friends.
Alan and Rhonda Jeffery of Victoria
Harbour, Glenn and Dorothy Jeffery were
Saturday evening supper guests with Jeff
and Connie Millar and family.
Virginia and Brett Warwick travelled to
Belarus and returned home last week.
The Warwicks would like to thank every-
