Bowl for Kids raises $19,662 Crediton W. I. elects officers
Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron (BBBSSH) held its Bowl for Kids
awards night April 20 at the Exeter Lions Youth Centre.Although missing
the mark on their $21,000 goal, several volunteers helped raise $19,662
for the BBBSSH's 26th annual Bowl for Kids, their top fundraiser of the
year. Many participants earned prizes including above from left Robert
Horner,Alex Parsons, Mike Pregent, Eleanor Armstrong representing the
Exeter Scotiabank, Richard Rader, Kristy Mostrey, Rev. Sue McCullough
representing St. James Anglican in Clandeboye, Mike Porter and Bob
Reynolds. Grand prize winners for 2006 are first place winner Richard
Rader of Rona Cashway in Exeter, raising $965; second place winner Bob
Reynolds, a longtime supporter of Bowl for Kids, raising $773 and third
place winner Mike Pregent, a big mentor with the agency raising $730.
The Bowling League division awarded prizes to Cheryl Kennedy, first
place at $725, Mike Porter, second place at $556 and Robert Horner
third place at $433. Zurich Town and Country raised $1,858, Lucan
raised $1,696. Scotiabank in Exeter took top place in the Corporate
division, raising $1,574.The churches altogether raised $4,800, St. James
Anglican of Clandeboye raised $2,463 in pledges, winning this year's tro-

CREDITON— The
Crediton Women's Institute
held their annual meeting
April 26 at the home of
Rosemary Neeb.
The roll call, "What I did
for Easter" was answered
by 12 members after presi-
dent Alma Davey welcomed
all. Monthly and yearly
reports were given. Anne
Cottel had written reports
of the board meeting and
upcoming events for each
member to take home as a
reference.
Plans were made for the
upcoming District Annual
May 18 in Grand Bend and
the picnic July 4. Gifts for
the conference in August
were finalized.
The next meeting is set
for May 24 with members,
husbands and or friends
going out for supper at 6:30
p.m. and then an evening of
fun and games at the home
of Noella Triebner.
Jean Neil installed the
officers of the Crediton
Women's Institute for the
upcoming year as follows:

Volunteers hours were
added up, a total of 2,309
were reported from the
members. A penny auction
was held and money raised
was donated to "Pennies for
Friendship". A delicious
lunch was served by the
executive members.
Church News
In a Ministry Exchange,
Rev. Bob Biggar of Ontario
Street United church in
Clinton was the guest min-
ister at Zion United Church
in Crediton Sunday with
Rev. Sheila Macgregor
speaking in Clinton. Rev.
Biggar's sermon was enti-
tled, "Get pumped about
church".
Sacrament of Baptism will
be held on Mother's Day,
May 14. Anyone wishing to
have their child baptized
should contact Rev. Sheila
Macgregor at 234- 6789 or
235-0613.
All ladies of the congrega-
tion are invited to the
U.C.W.'s annual May sup-
per meeting. It will be held
May 4 at the church at 5:45
p.m. Please let Irene
Haugh know at 234-6336 if
you will be attending and if
you need a ride.
In a change of plans, the
ecumenical service will not
be held on Conference Sun.,
May 28 and the regular
worship service will be held
in Crediton.
The Zion United Church
anniversary will be held on
Sun., June 4 and the church
has been fortunate in being
able to book a rising new
Christian singing group
called "Heaven's Gate".
The Sunday School annual
service and picnic goes
Sun., June 11; a fish fry is
Fri., June 16 at the
Crediton ball park and
Sun., June 25 is the
Crediton Cemetery
Decoration service. The
very popular chicken bar-
becue is set for Tues., Aug.
15.
POLICE BRIEFS
Residence
mischief in
Huron Park
HURON PARK — On April
28 at approximately 10
p.m. several youths attend-
ed a residence on Columbia
Drive in Huron Park. The
Teens smashed the back
door and then fled through
the field.
OPP respond
to fight in
Exeter
EXETER — On May 1
Huron OPP responded to a
large fight on Andrew
Street in Exeter. Police
attended and found four
males yelling and fighting.
The males in age from 15 to
43 are all from Exeter. The
parties were separated and
warned for there inappro-
priate behavior.
