The answer is (cue drum roll): nacho cheese. Now, if that joke made you laugh, or at least made you not grimace, then you'll find 'Just for Chuckles' utterly side-splitting (in a good way). This stunningly fine night of comedy is being held at the high school May 13, the Saturday after the school play. Five professional comedi- ans will be dishing out the hilarity, which is guaranteed to be at least seven times funnier than my attempt at humour. Brintnell of Kirkton pleaded guilty to a charge of assault stem- ming from an incident Jan. 29. Brintnell was given a conditional discharge and placed on probation for 12 months. Assault Donald J. Wright of Kirkton pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful entry stem- ming from an incident Nov. 14 in Kirkton. Wright was given a sus- pended sentence and placed on probation for 12 months. Another charge of unlawful entry along with four charges of assault and two charges of threatening death were withdrawn. Mischief William S. Usher pleaded guilty to a charge of mischief under $5,000 stemming from an incident Dec. 5 in Exeter. Usher was given a sus- pended sentence and placed on 12 months probation. Further charges of causing a disturbance and failure to comply with conditions were withdrawn. Impaired Dan J. Moir of Hensall pleaded guilty to a charge of ability impaired stemming from an incident Feb. 6. Moir was given a $900 fine and a 12 month driving ban. Two further charges of over 80 mg and possession of a sub- stance were with- drawn. Fraud Dianne Underhill of Centralia pleaded guilty to a charge of fraud stemming from an inci- dent May 24 at an Exeter business. Underhill was given a suspended sentence and placed on probation for 18 months as well as 100 hours of community ser- vice. Underhill was also ordered to make restitu- tion in the amount of $1,300. Eight further charges of fraud were with- drawn. EXETER COURT F' Capsule Comments by Ernie Miatello Hydrocortisone cream is the only "cortisone" cream available without a prescription. It is useful for minor rashes, itchy skin, and other minor skin conditions. It works by reducing swelling and inflammation of the tissues. However it shouldn't be used for cuts or broken skin, acne, cold sores or for fungal infections. It could make matters worse. Meningitis is a leading cause of mortality in children. Awareness of the warning signs of this condition can save lives. They include: cold hands and feet, abnormal skin colour, leg pain as well as rash, headache, stiff neck and light sensitivity. This sounds like a good idea. Boots, the English pharmacy chain, has introduced talking labels to help blind people take their medications correctly. The pharmacist records the directions onto a credit card -sized device, which is clipped to the medication box. The user simply presses a button to hear the directions. Prolonged hiccups sometimes respond to simple breath holding. If that doesn't work, try gargling with some water. It seems that if you cause yourself to sneeze a few times, the hiccups usually disappear quite easily. Give these ideas a try.
