(photo/submitted) Hawks win gold EXETER — Two local girls from the Bluewater Hawks won gold at the Ontario Women's Hockey Association Provincial championships in Vaughan April 7-9. Kristen Hefley and Ashley Gallagher went through six hard games to reach their year-long goal. The Bluewater Hawks defeated Sudbury 4-1, lost 1-0 to Hamilton and beat Cambridge 3-1. They came second in their pool and advanced to the quarter -finals to play Oakville. Hefley scored the tie breaking goal from the blueline with 27 seconds remaining in the third period forcing an overtime period. Within two minutes, the Hawks scored and won the game carrying on to the semifinals where they beat Stratford 2-1. In the gold medal game the Hawks blanked the Whitby Wolves 4-0. The team had a success- ful season earning second in their division as well as winning silver at the Windsor tournament in December and Gallagher and Hefley thank their sponsors for helping them during the year. (photo/submitted) Blue Jays at hall of fame ST. MARYS — Coaches of the Toronto Blue Jays will be at the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame April 29 giving some instruction to local children. The clinic for boys and girls from ages seven to 14 runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and participants must pre - register at the Hall's administrative office. The cost for the clin- ic is $15 per player which includes a bar- becue lunch as well as a Blue Jays shirt, cap and ticket vouch- er. All participants are asked to arrive at Rotary field no later than 10:45 a.m. on Saturday bringing their own gloves, caps and sunscreen. For more informa- tion or to register call 284-1838.
