The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation received a special gift April 13 at the Exeter Synchronized Skating Club's 'Ladies Night
Out' event — a cheque for $21,792.11 from Exeter's Curves For Women 'Pink Ribbon Girls' fundraiser The money was raised
through a calendar featuring local women, Exeter Curves manager Sid Reaburn told the Times -Advocate last week. She said
breast cancer was chosen as a cause because it touches so many people's lives. The calendar features "real women" at all stages
of life, and age and size didn't matter, Reaburn said.A topic was chosen for each month, some serious, some humorous. Reaburn
said individuals and businesses donated their time and money to make the project possible."Everybody just came together and
wanted to help," she adds. The calendars went on sale for $10 in November and are still available at Curves for a donation.
Pictured above from left are Reaburn, volunteer representative for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Valerie Bain and `Pink
Ribbon Girl' Linda Webber. Bain said the money donated by Curves will go towards breast cancer research, fellowship programs
for young researchers and to front-line health care. She called the donation "fantastic." Reaburn said the cause is "near and dear
to our hearts." (photo/Scott Nixon)
