Precious Blood chess team
Precious Blood students had another successful day at the Knights of Columbus Huron CountyYouth Chess
Tournament in Goderich this year.Twenty-two schools and 260 students participated in the tournament April
7, with Precious Blood bringing home a first place in the Grade 7 division, a second in Grade 8 and a third in

4 - H Beef Club back and better than ever

4 - H BEEF CLUB CORRESPONDENT
EXETER — The Exeter 4 - H Beef Club held its first
meeting at club leader Andrea Hern's house Mon.,
April 3. Once again our club is growing with 15
returning members and four new members. The meet-
ing got underway with each member introducing them-
selves and talking about their past 4 - H experience
and what they have learned through the club.
The meeting continued with Hern giving out the dates
of the important 4 - H events for the year and handing
out registration forms. The group briefly discussed our
projects for the year and then elected the 2006 club
executive. Elisha Coleman will be the club's president
assisted by vice, Jessica Brock. Secretary notes will be
taken by Katie Hern and John Urquhart will be filling
the treasurer's position. Robin McKnight will be this
year's press reporter.
After discussing a few more paper work issues the
meeting wrapped up and the club enjoyed a quick
snack. Thank -you to the Hern family for hosting our
first meeting and providing snacks afterwards.
Club members are reminded of the next meeting. If
anyone else is interested in joining the Exeter 4 - H
Beef Club please call Andrea Hern at 229-6863.

EXETER - Precious Blood Catholic
Women's League met in April
The April 11 meeting was attended
by 23 ladies. Anna -Marie opened
with a prayer and then Marlette
introduced our entertainment.
Hannah Krebs from Hensall delight-
ed our group with three dances she
performed with her bright smile and
energetic enthusiasm. She has
taken lessons from Sutherland
Studios in London for four years to
become a graceful highland dancer.
Special thanks to Hannah's mom
for being her commentator.
Last month's minutes were
read by Jacqueline, adopted
by Joan and seconded by
Mary Van Rooy. Mary read
our correspondence and
Brenda gave the Treasurer's report
which was adopted by Cecilia and
seconded by Darlene.
Teri Pearson spoke about witness-
ing the devastation which occurred
in New Orleans while on their way
to Florida. She read two poems,
"Married to a Knitter" and
"Mother".
Volunteers are needed at the
Hospital Rummage Sale on Wed.,
April 19 and Thurs., April 20. Joan
Agnew is organizing quarterly food
drives which will take place via our
Reverse Food collection in January,
April, July, and October. Please
remember to restock the Exeter
Food Bank. There is a need to share
and please be generous.
Annual Penny Sale
We voted to have our annual
penny sale start at 5 p.m. with the
draws taking place at 7 p.m.
Our prizes will be a handmade
quilt, wooden clock, $150
Eddington's gift certificate, $150 car
wash, and $100 cash. Teri and
Wendy voted to adopt this motion.
Charitable donations
The April charity of the month was
Carla Musser from the group Hands
of God. Hall rental will be adver-
tised in our bulletin to let all
• parishioners know it is avail-
able by contacting Joanne
T Steffens.
▪ Eleven mini -roses were
delivered prior to Easter to
our shut-ins in the hospital, area
nursing homes, and their homes.
Denise and Darlene voted that our
May charity of the month will be
divided equally among four charities
in the collection at the April conven-
tion.
Confirmation will be May 26 and
the group 1st communion will be
May 28. A gathering of ladies will
be attending the Fun Night on
Thurs., April 20 at the Mitchell
District Community Center at 7 p.m.
Jacqueline spoke about some new
fund raising options for the future.
More details will follow from the
pulpit and the bulletin. Pat
Campbell won the door prize.
Elaine Keller's group is in charge of
the May 9 meeting.
POLICE BRIEF
Bayfield man arrested
BAYFIELD — A Bayfield resi-
dent who is known to officers as
being a prohibited driver was
observed driving a motor vehicle
in Bayfield twice by an off duty
officer on April 11. On the same
date, later that night the same
vehicle was located on Louise
Street operated by the same dri-
ver. A 22 -year-old Bayfield man
was arrested, transported to the
Huron Detachment and held for a
bail hearing, facing three counts
of driving while disqualified and
three counts of breaching proba-
tion.

enjoyed by many at
Queensway
HENSALL — Queensway Retirement Residence
Mens group recently extended an invitation to men
from the community to join them for a Men's
Breakfast and Trip to St. Joseph's for a tour of the
Antique & Oak Furniture Factory & Store April 10.
Everyone gathered for a delicious breakfast of
sausage, eggs, toast, fruit & coffee, enjoyed over
friendly conversation after which they set out for St.
Josephs where all types of wooden furniture was
admired. Thank you to Auxiliary volunteers Edna
Deitz and Merle McLellan for assisting Julie
Grimminck with this event.
Rev. Alec McGillvery of the Zurich & Dashwood
United Churches led worship at Queensway Tues.,
April 11 with Belva Fuss as organist.
Queensway's Volunteer Auxiliary held their monthly
meeting Tues., April 4 when the April's events were
previewed. We're excited about the Volunteer
Appreciation Party scheduled for Wed., April 19 when
Martin Gelinas and his Band will entertain.
Family council held their monthly meeting facilitat-
ed by Social Worker, Shirley Hall Tues., April 11. A
family information night is being planned for June 20
at 7 p.m as part of our Long Term Care month activi-
ties in June. Mark your calendars and plan to attend
this very worthwhile evening.
Groups that have shared their talents recently at
Queensway were the Otterbein's April 4, Andy Rau &
friends April 7 and Fellowship Singers April 9.
Hensall Presbyterian women are providing assistance
& prizes for Bingo Monday afternoons in April.
Queensway Retirement artists are moving ahead in
their painting class as techniques in shading are
being practiced.

Board's Audit Committee
The Avon Maitland District School Board welcomes volunteers
who have a passion for public education to express an interest in
becoming one of three community representatives on the Board's
Audit Committee, beginning in late May, 2006 for a two year term.
Interested individuals should have financial training and expertise
and will be selected through an interview process.
The Audit Committee is responsible for overseeing the Board's
audit process. It meets in the spring to review audit planning, and
in the fall once the audit has been completed. The Audit Committee
may make recommendations to the Board's Finance Committee
regarding the audited statements, the financial processes of the
Board, and the Board's internal controls.
Community members provide the Board with independent advice
regarding the audit and its functions.
Expressions of interest to serve on this committee
are to be sent no later than May 5, 2006 to:
