Student advisory council secre- tary Lisa Denotter said the system benefits all students, including those with hearing or learning disabilities. Each system costs over $1,600, and principal Gladys Rock said they are becoming more common in schools. (photo/Scott Nixon) Queensway offers new Quick Response Program HENSALL - Queensway Retirement Home is now offering a service called the Quick Response Program (QRP), which will supply seniors with a tem- porary place to stay in the case of an emergency. According to a press release from Queensway, two rooms will be avail- able if circumstances arise from a caregiver emer- gency, unexpected illness, or a home emergency, such as fire, burst pipe, or even a lack of heat in the winter or lack of air-condi- tioning in the summer. Retirement director Julie Grimminck says tempo- rary residents will have access to all the same ser- vices as full-time resi- dents, such as 24 hour emergency response, house keeping, laundry, medication administra- tion, social and recreation and three meals a day. Queensway is aware that for many seniors finances are a concern, so tempo- rary residents will be charged a discounted room rate for up to 14 days. The discount rates will be available for a two week period, after which if they choose to stay at Queensway, they will be charged the regular room rate. HENSALL NEWS Julie has visited area OPP, fire, ambulance, and hospitals to introduce the new pro- gram. There has been great feedback from the community. The Red Cross heard about our program and inquired about details, Queensway has signed a contract with The Red Cross for two years to work together providing accommoda- tions to seniors requiring QRP. Queensway's sister site, Seaforth Manor has also implemented this wonder- ful program. If location is an issue then choice is available. If you would like to use the QRP or have any questions please contact Julie Grimminck at 262- 2830 extension 2.
