(pho- tos/Pat Bolen) Monday morning shed fire DASHWOOD — Local firefighters responded to a fire in a shed con- taining oil tanks, equipment and tools Monday morning. The fire occurred at John Regier's property, about four kilometres south of Dashwood on Bronson Line. Dashwood fire chief Jim Hoffman said he believes the cause of the fire was a heat source in the building. Those near the property saw smoke coming out of the approximately 80 - foot long shed and reported the fire. In addition to the Dashwood department, the Huron Park and Exeter departments were called, Hoffman said, because of the "unknowns" in the shed, which included oil tanks. He said firefight- ers were able to knock the fire down fairly quickly before they spread to the tanks. "Nothing leaked out from any of those tanks," Hoffman said. "They were all contained and no fire got to them." Firefighters were on scene for about an hour and a half. SOURCEWA. Darling brothers fined LONDON — The former owners of Darling's Food Market locations in Exeter and Lucan were fmed $20,713 last week for three counts of income tax evasion. Brothers Jeffrey Rolland Darling and Robert James Darling of Exeter pleaded guilty in a London court room. Jeffrey Rolland Darling was fined $7,337 for trying to evade $14,674 in federal income taxes, while his brother Robert James Darling was fined $7,234 for trying to evade $14,467 in federal income taxes. Their grocery business, A.J. Darling and Company Limited, was fmed $6,142 for trying to evade $12,285 in corporate income taxes. According to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), an investigation revealed that the two men each took $52,170 from the company and did not include the amounts as income in their 1999 to 2001 personal income tax returns. The amounts were also not included as income in the 2000 and 2001 tax returns for the company. The $20,173 fine represents 50 per cent of the federal tax evaded, the minimum fine under the Income Tax Act. A release from CRA states the Darlings and the company fully co-operated throughout the investigation. The Exeter grocery store closed before Christmas, while the Lucan store is under new management. 2006 FREESTAR SPORT THE SAFEST SEATS OF ANY MINIVAN: V crEatE a reaction.ca 179 WITH 2.9 O/OSE A.P.R.
