the death of
their brother
William (Billy)
James Cook of
R.R. 3, Granton,
age 68, on
Thurs., March 9.
The funeral was
held at the C.
Haskett and Son
Funeral Home
on Mon., March
13, Pastor Paul
Vollick officiated.
Interment St.
Marys Cemetery.
A number
from the
Granton area
attended the
Lenten luncheon
hosted at the
Living Hope
Church in
Lucan.
Fr. Van
Zutphen from St.
Patrick's
Catholic Church
was the speaker
on the theme of
the Return of the
Prodigal Son.
At the
Granton -Wesley
United Church
on Sun., March
12 Pastor Paul
Vollick led the
service and the
message was
entitled "Who
we listen to and
follow". The
ministry of
music was
Matthew 5 -
"Blest are they".
The children's
hymn was
"Jesus came a
child like me".

Thurs., March 9
at noon com-
mencing with a
potluck lunch.

meeting with a
reading `Man's
humanitarian trip to
Best Friend'.

vice at 7:30 p.m.
April 14, Easter
breakfast April
16, and a chick-
en barbecue is
planned for
March 26.

the group that
there will be a
calender on the
bulletin board of
all the events for
two months,
including those
of the area

Churches.

vened the pro-
gram reading
about the life of
St. Patrick.
The group then
played one of
Madeline
Hardie's mind
boggling games.
They also
extended get
well wishes to
her following a
broken wrist.

inspired with
her heart-warm-
ing, humorous
anecdotes and
her courage in
undertaking this
trip. April
thanked her and
presented her
with a gift.

business when a
bakeless bake
sale took place.

poem about one
which Sadie
Hobbs had writ-
ten many years
ago which Lillus
unearthed from
her mother

Lucan man killed
LUCAN — A 19 -year-old Lucan man was killed
Sunday when his SUV hit a tree on Saintsbury Line.
According to OPP, Jeffrey Michael Hendrickson was
driving north when he lost control of his vehicle,
which bounced off a tree and into a ditch.
Hendrickson died at the scene.
OPP are investigating the accident.

Round Hickorynut and the Kidneyshell
Fisheries and Oceans Canada has developed a strategy to recover the endan-
gered Round Hickorynut and the Kidneyshell. These mussels have been severely
reduced in number and are now protected under the federal Species at Risk Act.
In recent years, the Kidneyshell has been reported from the Ausable River,
Sydenham River and Lake St. Clair, while the Round Hickorynut is now found only
in the waters of the Lake St. Clair delta and a small portion of the East Sydenham
River.
