HCFA response to farm funding CLINTON — Ontario Agriculture Minister Leona Dombrowsky recently announced $125 million in financial assistance to the province's farmers. Local response to the announcement for the most part has been one of thanks but much more a feeling of being let down because it has failed to address agriculture's real needs, according to a Huron County Federation of Agriculture (HCFA) news release. Huron farmers have been very vocal to both their MPP and MP on the need for investment into the grains and oilseed sectors, along with the livestock sectors still suffering from the BSE crisis. The funding announcement will be split out as follows: • $80 million for grain and oilseed producers, which will include farm fed, to offset their losses on the 2005 crop; • $35 million for producers of all edible horticultural crops to offset their past loss- es; • $10 million for an Ontario livestock and poultry trace- ability system to assist the province's agri-food industry to strengthen emergency management and capitalize on market opportunities President of the HCFA Nick Whyte says, "The $80 million from the province added to the federal commitment of $120 million to grains and oilseed producers will follow the traditional split on pro- gram payments." Whyte adds, "Those dollars will be well used to help pay last year's costs, but the announcement falls short of a fully funded Risk Management Program that farmers have presented to government." on April 16 followed by an egg hunt communion at 10 a.m. at 9 a.m. and regular service and garybean SECURITIES LTD. ON THE MOVE IN EARLY APRIL As spring approaches we are entering the final leg of the building process at our new head office location. When passing though the south end of Exeter please watch for our sign announcing the official opening of the new building. In previous articles we have discussed topics like our professional investment process, RRSP strategies and mutual fund investing. Today we would like to briefly share some of our thoughts on investing in traditional common shares. Investing in common shares can take many forms. For example, many of our clients hold positions in blue-chip companies that have multi -billion dollar market capitalizations. Alternatively, on a nearly daily basis we receive phone calls from people inquiring about the future prospects for very small companies and penny stocks. Whether investing in large -cap blue-chip companies or speculating on small -caps the most important consideration for any investor is the level of risk that they are taking with their hard-earned investment dollars. Quite often investors only focus on the potential returns of the company that they are interested in. To focus solely on returns without considering risk is a hazardous mistake. What you can expect from Gary Bean Securities is an evaluation of both the risk characteristics and return potential of any common share that you are investing in. Whether your preference is conservative companies or volatile speculations we will find an opportunity for you to invest your capital where the risk - return tradeoff is working in your favour. To show you specifically what we have recommended in the past we would like to have you come and view our published materials covering different stock selections. We publish our recommendations so that we have a credible record of our recommendations and in turn you can reliably track our past endorsements. Please feel free to call or stop in to our offices for more information on our philosophies and investment style. We truly believe that we can help you. 1-800-710-5216 235-4099 30 Years Serving The Exeter Community Small Town Values ...
