Spring Cleaning Meeting for Varna UCW

VARNA CORRESPONDENT
VARNA- Church service was in Goshen on
Sunday. Flowers placed in the sanctuary
were in memory of Linda Linfield's mother,
Dorothy Blake. Sympathy is extended to
Linda and Bill and their family.
The gift of music by the choir was "Legend
of the Tall Trees" with Willi Laurie, Terri
Louch and Debbie Rathwell singing the voic-
es of the trees. The children's time was also
about the Legend of the Tall Trees. Leanne
Colcough and Jean Bennett read VARNA
the scripture lessons for
Sunday.
Pastor Elly's message was on "The Counter
Intuitive Nature Of This Life".
Pastor Elly announced that Alan Remington
a resident of Varna passed away last week.
There will be no service.
Church Worship will be in Goshen Sun.,
March 26.

Varna Goshen Time and Talent Auction
Fri., March 31 at the Varna Complex. The
doors are open for viewing at 6:45 pm with
the auction to start at 7:30 p.m. with Bob
Heywood as auctioneer. This will be a fun
night with a silent auction, inflated penny
sale, loonie auctions and lots of entertain-
ment. Admission will be $5 and this includes
your dessert and door prize ticket. Anyone
with any donations please contact Elly as
soon as possible. Mark this on your calendar
and plan to attend.
Varna UCW will meet Thurs., April 6 for a
spring cleaning meeting.
Please bring your wish list items for Camp
Menesetung. Camp Menesetung is in need of
program supplies such as: heavy duty zip loc
bags, pencil crayons, markers, costumes,
pool toys, board games etc., sports equip-
ment, craft supplies (such as white glue, glue
sticks, craft paint, pipe cleaners , paper
plates etc.), any first aid supplies, office sup-
plies and maintenance supplies. May 13 is
spring cleaning day at Camp Menesetung.
The Varna Crokinole Club met Tues.,
March 14 for doubles play. Members were
paired up by drawing cards and winners
NEWS were Joe Fulop and Mary
Ostrom 40 points, Abe Leitch
and Bonnie Roy 31, Conrad Sitter and Joan
Beierling 27 and Ronnie Coleman and Bob
Russell with 26 points. The club will meet on
March 28 for singles and the end of the year
banquet will follow at the White Carnation on
April 11. Some members of the club are
competing in the St. Jacobs tournament on
Sat., March 25. Good luck to them.
The four top shufflers for Thurs., March 16
were Arnold Keys 276, Elmer Hayter 242,
Ruth Johnston 220 and Eleanor McAsh 184.
Shufflers meet every Thursday afternoon at 2
p.m. at the Varna Complex. Everyone wel-
come.
Many Varna community residents met at
the Varna Church last Friday night for the
3rd Annual St. Patrick's Day pot luck supper.
Dinner was enjoyed as usual. Kevin and
Natalie Wynja and boys Tyler and Darcy
were presented with a going away gift. They
are moving to Thunder Bay at the end of
March. They will be missed but are wished
all the best in their future endeavours and
will keep in touch.
