Grant Robertson appointed to NFU
SASKATOON — Grant Robertson of Paisley
has been appointed to the National Farmers
Union (NFU) Board of Directors.
Robertson's appointment, which fills a
vacancy for the Ontario region, took effect at
the NFU Board meeting in Saskatoon, Sask.
The other Ontario board members are Don
Mills of Granton and Joe Dama of
Leamington.
Robertson has run for the NDP in Huron -
Bruce in previous elections.
He farms with his wife and partner Sarah
Slater near Paisley in Bruce County.
While the main focus of Grant and Sarah's
mixed farm is a cow -calf to finish operation,
they also raise a small flock of chickens.
They market their beef, pork and chicken
to consumers and others in the food system
under their brand name: "Highlands of
Paisley."
Robertson says he looks forward to work-
ing on behalf of farmers in Ontario as part of
a national family -farm based organization.
The NFU in Ontario is holding its annual
general meeting April 1 at the Ignatius Jesuit
Centre in Guelph from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., fol-
lowed by a social gathering.
An NFU Policy workshop is slated April 2
from 9 a.m. to noon.
"When I look at what farm organization is
really speaking up for the interests of farm-
ers, one organization stands out - the NFU,"
stated Robertson.
"When I actually looked at my choices
about which farm organization to belong to,
it is clear the NFU is the only farm organiza-
tion proposing practical, workable solu-
tions."
