On Sat., March 4 a bridal shower was held for McAdams at the Hay Township Hall in Zurich with friends and rela- tives coming from vari- ous places. A buck and doe will be held for Julia Geiger and Trevor Truemner on Fri., March 10 in Exeter Anniversary planning meeting is Thurs., March 9 at 7 p.m. in the Lutheran Church Hall. The Skating Carnival is on Sun., March 19, 2 p.m. at the Blue Water Complex in Zurich. The theme being "Skate and Shout". Committee members will be selling the 150th anniversary books, raffle tickets on a quilt, a stained glass hanging and a set of porcelain plates of Zurich at the Skating Carnival. The annual meeting of the Bean Festival com- mittee is on Wed., March 15, 7:30 p.m. at Erb's Country Kitchen. People who have helped and anyone else who would like to attend is wel- come. The next Men's Breakfast at Smiley's Pizza Place in Zurich will be on Sat., March 11 at eight students and leaders. Their next meeting is at the Parish Hall and will be a "Survivor Night" of games. Any children 10 years and under who would like to play soccer in Zurich come out to regis- ter on March 22, from 6 to 9 p.m. Or call Karen Mathonia at 236-4310 or Andrea Brand at 236- 3889. Residents at the Blue Water Rest Home are keeping busy with walks, exercises, massage and music therapy, Bible readings, manicures, teas and toast snacks, and musical entertain- ments. The Grand Bend Seniors Band is enter- taining on March 10, at 2:30 p.m. The Red Hats will be there on March 14 for Tea at 1:30 p.m. March 15 is Harvey and Friends at 6:30 p.m. Some Lutheran Church members will sing on March 16 at 2 p.m. Staff members of the C. G. Farm Supply and their spouses were treated to a delicious meal at Erb's Country Kitchen last Friday, followed by a get- together at the home of Cliff and Delores Gingerich of Zurich. Grade five, six, seven and eight students of St. Boniface School enjoyed a ski trip to Chicopee on Tuesday. There will be a Knights of Columbus Hockey tournament for junior students in Seaforth on Saturday and for the senior teams on Sunday. Congratulations to Lois Thiel on her new job as Director of Care at Queensway Nursing Home in Hensall. Lois has been working in London. A Fair Board meeting was held on March 2 at the Hay Township Hall with new president being Hilda Lansbergen, secre- tary/treasurer Margaret Deichert gave her reports, along with one from the recent conven- tion she attended in Toronto. Committee reports were given and plans made for the Fair on July 21, 22 and 23. The theme being, "Remember When". Empty kleenex boxes (with the plastic still on) are needed for some children's games. Members are asked to please get their collect- ing done as soon as pos- sible. The next Fair Board meeting is Thurs., April 6, at 7:30 p.m. The next free bus ride to the Bank of Montreal in Hensall will be on Fri., March 17 (St. Patrick's Day) which leaves from Maple Woods Apartment by 9:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. from the main cor- ner in Zurich by the blinking light. Town and Country Bowling Lanes hosted the Zone Finals for the Ladies National Classified Tournament on Saturday. Teams competing were from Clinton, St. Marys, Zurich and two from Mount Forest. Zurich ladies won the tourna- ment and will compete in Regional Finals in Molesworth. Two Zurich men's teams competed in Clinton and placed first and third out of seven teams. They will bowl in Mount Forest on April 1. Congratulations and good luck to both teams. Steckle will use tractor rally as leverage to promote RMP EXETER — A face-to- face meeting with the Minister of Agriculture has again been request- ed by Paul Steckle, the Member of Parliament for Huron -Bruce and the Liberal Party of Canada's Associate Critic for Agriculture. The meet- ing has been requested in an effort to affect the expedint implementation of the producer proposed Risk Management Programme (RMP). Agriculture is in dire need of the RMP, and Steckle intends to cite the Huron County Tractor Rally as support- ing evidence.
