LUCAN — A 3-2 overtime
loss Saturday against the
Elora Rocks has eliminated
the Lucan Ilderton Jets from
the playoff race.
"It was a good effort by
Lucan but Elora are the
defending champs," says
Lucan Ilderton Jets general
manager Rob Andrews.
"They're a strong team."
The Jets led 1-0 in the first
during Saturday's game after
a goal by Tim Parsons.
After the second the teams
were tied 2-2.
By the end of the third with
just 1:07 remaining, the Rocks
were one up on Lucan with 3-
2 on the scoreboard.
Just as it looked like the Jets
would be facing elimination in
just over a minute, a penalty
shot was awarded to Lucan
for a delay of the game.
Forward Parsons took the
shot and scored.
Andrews says anyone
watching the game must have
been amazed at Parsons.
"When Parsons went up he
brought the puck back
between his legs, continuing
on to shot the puck which
went in the net, tying the
game and forcing overtime,"
says Andrews.
The Jets' run ended 1:44
into the overtime after a
strong start for Elora.
"It was a good game all
around," says Andrews.
"Dave Riddell played a
strong game in net," he adds.
Friday night in Elora, the
Rocks beat the Jets 7-2, out -
shooting Lucan 57-20.
Mark Williams played a
strong game in net.
The Jets did have a disad-
vantage—Mike Robb was out
due to an injury which
required surgery.
Robb was out of the hospital
Monday and is doing well.
Andrews was pleased with
the fans, supporters and spon-
sors throughout the year.
Recruitment for next season
will begin as soon as possible.
