HENSALL — A family business, widely supported by
the Hensall community opened recently on the Main
Street of Hensall.
MacFadden's Welding, owned by Ernie MacFadden
who runs the business with his wife Patricia is an ideal
opportunity for the couple.
"We get along very well together, that's why we decid-
ed to work together," says Patricia.
"He's my best friend," she adds.
Their 15 -year-old son Matthew and eight-year-old son
Benjamin also play a part in the business.
Matthew designed the business card for Ernie.
Benjamin, according to Patricia, "wants to be like
daddy."
The MacFadden family has lived in Hensall and area
for about 10 years and has been pleased with the com-
munity support shown already during the beginning of
their first business venture.
"We really love this town. This town is very supportive
when a business opens. They'll support it as much as
they can," says Patricia.
The MacFaddens wanted to support the Hensall busi-
ness economy by opening their own to help the village.
"We wanted to do something for Hensall. "We could
have gone elsewhere but wanted to stay here," says
Patricia.
Ernie has been a licensed industrial mechanic for 10
years, but has been welding for 20 years, gaining experi-
ence in the industry throughout Ontario.
"I have a wide experience in the industry from food,
auto and farming," says Ernie.
Patricia does the bookkeeping but would like to learn
how to weld.
MacFadden's Welding does customized fabrication and
industrial welding.
The business targets stainless steel and aluminum cus-
tomization.
Ernie also customizes rod iron railings or speciality
hand railings and stainless steel kitchen accessories.
Special requests by customers are welcomed with one
condition.
"If it can be welded, we can weld it," says MacFadden.
