Junior girls end season
EXETER — The SHDHS
junior girls volleyball team
ended the season on a posi-
tive note winning four out of
six games in their final
league matches.
Due to a slow start at the
beginning of the season, the
team was unsuccessful in
reaching the final playoff
round, missing out by one
win, but great improvement
was definitely witnessed
throughout the few months.
Lindsay Jayne Hayter and
Natalie Hayes finished the
season superbly with great
blocking and hitting by
Hayter and strong coverage,
big hits and serving by
Hayes. Hayes is a `quiet
leader' with her amazing
skill level.
Captains Rosie Van
Elswyk and Bryn Price were
again leaders with smart
coverage and leadership
traits demonstrated
throughout the day and the
whole season. Both girls
successfully worked hard at
gelling the team together
and welcoming the rookies.
Kelsey Hern, Lauren
Haberer and Marlee
Baehnisch played strongly
against Northwestern help-
ing to win the final game
27-25 for a perfect 'come
from behind' win. Hern and
Haberer had key blocks at
the net while Baehnisch
demonstrated her setting
prowess.
In the next matches
against Mitchell, Natalie
Hayes served nine straight
serves with smart consistent
serving from rookies, mid-
dle Mairead O'Rourke, set-
ter Jenna Easton and power
Julia Roberts. Rookies
Carrie Powe and Evelyn
Johns covered the net
superbly with nice hits and
blocks.
Liberos Sandra Gregus
and Kacie Erb were key
players throughout the day
playing the tough position
with great finesse.
This group of talented vol-
leyball players should be
commended for their total
dedication to the team -
practicing hard and using
these new skills in the
games.
