Alun Thomas was in charge of the sixth Sunday after Epiphany church ser- vice on Sunday morning. The Introit was sung and Rev. Alun gave words of welcome and everyone shook hands. Sharon Lynn gave Minute for Council. Rev. Alun gave the announce- ments and lit the Christ candle. Evelyn Johns led in the Call to Worship which was hymn 404 in Voices United. Rev. Alun gave the gathering prayer. The Sacrament of Baptism then took place. Virginia Warwick of the worship committee called Brian and Carisa Richardson and Cory forward. Rev. Alun baptised Cory Donald son of Brian and Carisa Richardson. Virginia presented Carisa with a lit candle and a cer- tificate. The choir sang "Wonderful Grace of Jesus" accompanied by the organist Marilyn Vanenbussche. Rev. Alun read the gospel lesson Mark 2: 1-12, and the title of his meditation was "Getting Up, Getting Going". Helen Kadey and Joyce Fulton received the offer- ing and were the greeters. Announcements Sunday school dates: March 5 We welcome to our church congregation by the rite of baptism this morning Cory Donald Richardson, son of Brian and Carissa Richardson. Rev. Paul Ross is con- ducting a book study on The Pagan Christ. It is held at Exeter U.C. Thursday evenings start- ing at 7:30 p.m. It will run for ten nights over twelve weeks. There is no cost other than the cost of the book and whatever one might spend at Tim's after- wards. Even though the study began (Feb. 9) you are still invited to join the group. Church Council is asking for a volunteer to be a Presbytery Rep and we also need someone to fill a vacancy on the Elimville Cemetery Board. Feb 26 Church School Teachers Event sponsored by Five Oaks and Hamilton and London Conference from 2:30 to 7 p.m. at Five Oaks. The event takes a different form this time and will be an intergenera- tional program. Deadline for registration is Feb. 17. March 11 Congregational Skating Party at the South Huron Rec Centre at 7 p.m. on Saurday evening. Refreshments will be served following in the lobby. Sign the sign up sheet on the back bulletin board whether you are skating or just coming for the fellowship. Refreshments and skating are sponsored by the Christian Education Committee. March 12 Choir Annual Pancake and Sausage Brunch. Camp Bimini is now accepting applications for the following positions for our summer program - July and August. Les Hill's message was "Feeling Trapped". The organist was Bill Gibson. The greeter was Lucielle Beer. Lucielle was also the reader and candle lighter. Barb Westlake -Power looked after the nursery. Glenn and Lois Hayter were the ushers. The ser- vice closed with commis- sioning, benediction, and choral amen. The annual general meeting will be held on Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. after the pot -luck lunch. The Hensall and Community Horticultural Society held their February meeting on Monday evening. Cecil Pepper chaired the meet- ing and introduced the guest speaker, Mike Miller of Lakewood Nursery. Mike gave an interesting demonstration of tree pruning. Betty Simmons conducted the draw. Rachel Schwalm, Rita Van Wieren, Klaas Van Wieren, and Betty Simmons were the lucky whiners. Lillian Beer and Iva Reid served lunch, which was followed by a social time. At Carmel Presbyterian Church Tracy Whitson- Bahro's message was "The element of forgive - The annual Farmers' Curling Bonspiel was held Saturday at the Exeter Curling Club, with 64 players and 16 teams taking part.
