Sherwoods advance HENSALL — The Hensall Sherwoods advanced to the next round of the Senior playoffs with a 9-1 pounding of the Monkton Wildcats Friday night in Hensall to eliminate Monkton in three straight games. The Sherwoods now advance to face the Shelburne Muskies with game one Friday night in Shelburne at 8:30 p.m. The series shifts to Hensall Saturday night for game two at 7:30 p.m. with game three March 3 in Shelburne. Friday night the Sherwoods were up 2-1 after the first period on goals from Chris Kennedy and Jeremy VanBergen, before taking over in the second. Hensall fired four unanswered goals from Jeff Glavin, Jarrett Jeffrey, Mike Johnson and a power play marker from Mark Bell for a 6-1 lead going into the third. Three more power play goals from the Sherwoods in the third put the game away as Jeff Maclean, Johnson and Kennedy sealed the 9-1 win and the series victory for the Sherwoods. In other action, Durham, Elora, Shelburne, Lucknow, Tavistock and Lucan have advanced to the next round, each winning their series three straight. Clinton leads its series with Palmerston 2-1 with game four tonight (Wednesday).
