They enjoyed hot sunny days, calm waters and lots of good food and entertainment on the ship. They were accompanied by daughter, Nadine and Ray Chong of Windsor and their son Ethan. Farewell to Dennis and Nicole Willed and two chil- dren who have moved to Lucan over the weekend from Centre Street in Zurich. The annual Brother Bob Mittleholtz Bake Sale held at St. Boniface Church on the weekend was a big suc- cess. Anyone wanting to make a cash dona- tion this week can do so. The lucky win- ners of the draws were: Mary Lou Ducharme of Zurich, afghan; Ken Glavin of Mt. Carmel, fruit basket; Barb McCann of Mt. Carmel, big bear. Moms, don't forget to come out to free skating at the Zurich complex every Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10 to 11:30 a.m. You can bring along the little ones also. The Golden Agers held their monthly meeting on the second Mon., Feb. 13, at noon at the Township Hall with a good attendance. Anyone wishing to quilt is welcome to do some on Thursday mornings at 9 a.m. until whatever time you want to stay. The girls meet in the room above the library where it is nice and bright. Come out, the more the merrier. The Evangelical Lutheran Women's meeting was held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church hall on Feb. 14 with a Valentine's Day theme. Best wishes for a speedy recovery goes out to Hilda Lansbergen and Helen Overholt who are home recu- perating from operations. Also to Hubert Miller of Dashwood and Marg Munn of Hensall area. Congratulations to John and Bridget Groot who cele- brated their 55th wedding aAnniversary on Feb. 6. The youth group from St. Boniface School are having a "Backwards Night" on Thurs., Feb. 16 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. in the parish hall. Also the students are having a Winter Carnival outdoors on Fri., Feb. 17 from 1:20 to 3:20 p.m. Congratulations to Jamie Hoffman and Jackie Pike who were married on Feb. 2, in the Dominican Republic. Attending were parents Jim and Donna Hoffman, with other family members and friends. The couple will be having a reception in March for their friends and relatives to help them celebrate. Doug and Lois Thiel along with his mother Alice Thiel all of Zurich attended the wedding of their son David and Claire in Mexico on Jan. 30 which was held on the beach. The couple live in Toronto. Congratulations to Jeremy Geoffrey and Sarah Wuerth who were married at the United Church in Exeter on Feb. 4. A lovely dinner and reception was held in Exeter despite the snow storm that evening. The groom is the son of Randy and Vicki Geoffrey of Zurich and the bride is the daughter of John and Linda Wuerth of Exeter. Among the many guests was the groom's brother, Jason who travelled from British Columbia to attend the happy occasion. May we offer our sincere sympathy to the family and noon. Students of Zurich Public School held a Red and White Day on Valentine's Day. Both schools in town held a dance in the auditorium the afternoon for the older grades. The French Club at St. Boniface School sold choco- late roses and popcorn as a fund raiser. There was a good turnout for the Kids Friendship Fest '06 held at the Zion Lutheran Church in Dashwood. The day was sunny with snow and was great for the outdoor activities. All enjoyed a pizza lunch. The Great Skate will be held on Sun., Feb. 19 from 1-3 p.m. at the Bayfield Arena. It is free compliments of the Canadian Tire Store in Goderich with hot chocolate and hot dogs courtesy of the Bayfield Bluewater Recreation Committee. ZURICH NEWS capsule Comments by Ernie Miatello To minimize transfer of infection in the family, people who share a bathroom should store toothbrushes so they aren't touching each other. Using individual toothpaste tubes will also prevent the spread of infection especially if a member of the family is ill. Just as women are encouraged to do breast self-examination on a regular basis, men are urged to do a testicle self- examination once monthly. If the testicles are painful, tender or swollen, see your doctor. This type of exam is best done after a bath or shower. A doctor in Ontario is using live maggots to clean wounds. Maggots eat only dead tissue and don't touch live tissue. It's not for everyone but this therapy is reported to work really well. When you start a new medication, become familiar with the more common side effects of the drug. It's best to start with the lowest possible dose unless it's treatment is for severe or emergency situations.
