She said last weekend's fundraiser saw strong sales because of the Super Bowl. Helping out, above from left, were Remira Pryce, Sarah Houston and Rachel Tsitomeneas. Spokesperson for the group John Doner says, "Farmers and the rural Ontario ridings have made a difference to the outcome of the federal election for the first time in a long time. The time for increasing awareness is over and we are now demanding results, just as some banks are demanding results from us." The group supports Ontario's Unified Voice, expecting the Risk Management Program and imme- diate funding assistance for farmers in need from both levels of government. "It is imperative that both the provincial and feder- al governments act quickly to restore financial health to Ontario agriculture by providing immediate down payments on farm income programs," says Doner. Events are being planned by general farm organi- zations for the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs building in Guelph Feb. 14 and the Agriculture and Agri -Food Canada's Sir John Carling building in Ottawa Feb. 21. Both events will emphasize the need for funds allowing the 2006 crop to be in the ground on time.
