Teddy Bear theme
enjoyed at Hurondale
By Bev Campbell
SOUTH HURON - On Mon., Jan. 30 eleven members
of Hurondale W.I. were served a delicious lunch at the
home of Fern Dougall. The theme of the meeting was
Teddy Bears and they were displayed everywhere.
Following lunch, Mabel Stanlake introduced the guest
speaker, her great niece, Patti Hendricks. Patti is a
mother of three and helps her hus-
band with the family farm situated
near Brucefield. Patti has
turned a hobby into a business
venture; making Teddy Bears for
the past 17 years. Patti took the
group through the process of making a Teddy Bear
from the raw material to finished product. She attends
and sells her unique bears at craft shows in Canada
and the U.S.
Marilyn Pym thanked Patti for a most interesting talk
with a gift of appreciation.
President Fern opened the business portion of the
meeting with a poem and the Mary Stewart Collect and
the Institute Ode was recited. The Roll Call was
answered by members showing a Teddy Bear and
telling of receiving same. Several items of business and
up -coming dates were discussed.
The group then made plans for playing Bingo at the
Villa on Tues., Feb. 21. President Fern completed the
programme by reading a story titled "Quincy and the
Quilt" after which Marilyn Pym recited a poem.
A social time ended a very enjoyable afternoon for all.
Make your wedding
a lasting celebration!
Today, many couples are looking for unique and
meaningful ways to celebrate their special day.
The Canadian Cancer Society Wedding
Celebration Program is a unique and effortless way
for couples to make their wedding day even more
memorable and meaningful.
So many people are touched by cancer. The
Wedding Celebration Program allows couples to
celebrate their big day, and help make a difference
in the fight against cancer.
Couples are choosing to make a donation to the
Canadian Cancer Society to honour a loved one, or,
in lieu of favours, or gifts. The Canadian Cancer
Society Wedding Celebration Program offers ele-
gant personalized gift cards, place cards, and
more, to add that distinctive touch to a wedding.
Especially for those couples "who have every-
thing", deciding to forgo gifts and instead request-
ing an "In Honour" donation be made to the
Canadian Cancer Society leaves them with great
satisfaction and pride.
Honouring a loved one or an event can, and has,
gone beyond weddings. The sentiment easily fits
birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers, engage-
ment parties, Christmas gifts and so on. And, the
decision makes financial sense too as an income
tax receipt is issued for donations.
