EXETER — The Exeter
Hawks kept pace in the
crowded standings of the
Yeck conference in the
stretch drive to the play-
offs with a 5-2 win over
the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs
Friday night in Exeter.
"They had a very solid
effort," said Exeter
coach and general man-
ager Dale Howard.
"We're in a good
groove and almost
healthy. By the time
playoffs start we will be
healthy."
The Hawks had Brett
Nicholson back in the
lineup but have lost
Ryan Abrams with bro-
ken toes from an off ice
mishap.
But Howard said
Abrams will be back for
the start of the playoffs.
Howard added the
amount of goals the
team has allowed this
season is down almost
30 from last years team.
The Hawks have a 21-
12-2-1 record for 45
points, three back of
conference leading
Mitchell.
The Thamesford
Trojans are one point
back of Exeter with
Lambeth at 43. Mitchell
has one game in hand
over Exeter.
The Hawks continue
their last few games of
the schedule this week
when Lucan visits Friday
night at 8:30 p.m.
North Middlesex will be
in town Sunday after-
noon for a 3 p.m. game
which was originally
scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The Hawks were paced
by a five point effort
from Jason Stuckless,

with two goals and three
assists.
Exeter built a 2-0 Lead
in the first on goals from
Tony Regier and
Stuckless before the
Bulldogs replied in the
last minute for a 2-1
Exeter lead going into
the second.
Justin Young was the
only player to hit the
scoresheet in the second
with a power play mark-
er.
The Bulldogs cut the
lead to 3-2 midway
through the third period
but just two minutes
later Craig Masse
restored the lead before
Stuckless sealed the win
in the dying minutes
with his second of the
game.
Howard said with the
goaltending, defence and
balanced scoring the
Hawks have, "we just
have to come to play
from the drop of the
puck."
Jets face
Milverton
LUCAN — The Lucan/Ilderton Jets
will open their playoff schedule
against the Milverton Four Wheel
Drives Feb. 11 in Lucan. Game two
of the series will be Feb. 12 in

Feb. 17.
The Jets finished their regular
season schedule Jan. 28 with an 8-3
win over Monkton. Lucan/Ilderton
was up 3-0 after the first period and
7-1 after the second period on the
way to the win.
The Jets were powered by Todd
Hunt and Jason Wilson with two
goals apiece and singles from Mark
Phillips, Matt McFarlane and Andy
Marshall.
But the Jets received some bad
news as Craig Black, who was in his
first game back with the team since
November, suffered a knee injury
and will be lost for the season.
"We're definitely going to miss
him,"said Andrews.
