Huron United Way surpasses goal GODERICH — The Huron United Way has exceeded its 2005 fundraising goal. Board chairperson Larry Langan and the United Way board of directors announced Monday that the community of Huron County and Grand Bend have met the challenge for the second year in a row, raising the most money ever for the Huron United Way, passing the $230,000 goal. When asked what led to the success of the cam- paign, Langan said, "We had a very dedicated staff team and an enthusiastic group of employee cam- paign co-ordinators who did a tremendous job in their workplaces raising awareness and dollars and in many cases increasing campaigns significantly, plus a couple of amazing community events." Setting a goal for the campaign is determined by what the team feels the community is capable of supporting. The climate of the economic community is examined along with the existence of factors such as capitol campaigns and the worldwide disasters experienced in the past two years. "What a thrill to announce achievement of our goal. Our volunteer and staff team worked relentlessly to achieve this goal and we wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated or volunteered this year — we simply could not do it without you," said executive direc- tor Kimberley Payne. "We are deeply grateful to everyone who made a contribution of their very valuable resources of time and money," added Langan. "Your support will make a difference in the health and well being of your community in the coming year. Congratulations on anoth- er outstanding success." Payne added, "We are waiting final numbers to be tabulated from a few workplaces that are just finalizing their campaigns, however we can say that we are presently over $230,000." The Huron United Way is a non-profit agency invest- ing in Huron County through its 12 funded agencies.
