(photos/Pat Bolen) Muffin social in Granton By Muriel Lewis GRANTON CORRESPONDENT GRANTON- At the Granton -Wesley United Church on Sun., Jan. 8, Pastor Paul Vollick led the service and the message was "Understand by exam- ple." The lessons were from Genesis 1, Mark 1 and Acts 19. Meredith Dodds lit the Christ Candle and Mary Waters gave the Minute for Mission. Unit 3 hosted the muffin social before the service. Congratulations to Craig and Ashley Swarthout, who were married Friday evening, Jan. 6. GRANTON NEWS Granton -Wesley UCW Unit One met at the home of Carolyne Walden at noon on Thurs., Jan. 5 for a soup, sandwiches and dessert lun- cheon. Cathie Westman and Nora Wissel assisted the hostess. The meeting followed when president Carolyne opened with a prayer and the reading "Leading the Way." The roll call was answered with nine in attendance and some upcoming meetings were announced. Plans were made for the Feb. 2 meeting at Edith Eaton's home. Jill Westman was in charge of the program with the theme "What makes me happy." Pastor Paul Vollick closed the meeting with a short reading and prayer. At St. Paul's Anglican Church in Kirkton on Sun., Jan. 9, Rev. Dalice Sim celebrated the Holy Eucharist. The message was about three wise men and sharing light and truth with others. John Urquhart read the lessons. The hymn "We Three Kings" was sung with Leon Paul, George Burgin and John Urquhart each singing a verse. Happy Birthday was sung for Wilma Davis in honour of her 85th birth- day on Mon., Jan. 9. Wilma started playing the organ 75 years ago at age 10. A time of fellowship followed the service. The Exeter Curling Club has changed its Friday night curling format and is having a rocking good time.Teams are drawn each Friday night and the points that team earn that night are car- ried forward on a individual basis. Six ends are played with lunch served afterward. Arnold is also staying at the homes of Bill and Diane Carson, Larry and Joyce Eveland and Murray and Tracy Diegel. The T -A regrets the error. Exeter Saddle Club show EXETER — Friends from the Exeter Saddle Club gathered at the farm of Gus and Clasina Geurts Jan. 2 for a horse show for junior riders and prizes were donated for the high point winners of the show Age 12 and under junior B winners were first, Wesley McComb, second, Quentin McComb and third, Shawna Ducharme. Age 18 and under junior A winners, were first Brittany Frank, second Annique Eilers and third Montana Riley Tied for fourth were Caitlin Dorssers and Christine Campbell.
